Analyzing the GOP nomination
If McCain wins, the hard right and xenophobes won't be happy.
If Romney wins, the fundamentalists won't be happy.
If Guliani wins, the social conservatives won't be happy.
If Huckabee wins, Rush Limbaugh and the corporatists won't be happy.

Can you see any sort of scenario where the Repubs are going to be happy with who they end up with? Old man Thompson seemed like a distinct possibility given the GOP's Reagan fetish, but does he even know or care that he is running for president?

1. Were Thompson to somehow win, ...
the minority of Republicans who are actually awake won't be happy. ;-)

2. Thompson and Hunter....
are really the only two candidates that could have pulled it all together.
Hunter is on his way out, and Fred, well Focus on The Family's James Dobson went out of his way to sabotage him early among evangelicals, and the rest of the Repubs can't get energized over a guy that publicly states he could give a shit care less if he is President or not.

Things sure are looking bright for the future of the US, with the different factions of the GOP fighting for power.

3. ...and the GOP coalition breaks down after 27 years of ascendency
It was always such a fragile union let's hope we can put a stake in its heart this cycle
