I finally got around to watching Real Time
I was very amused by Catherine Crier's expressions when she was listening to Tony Snow bloviate. I swear, at least a few times, she was stifling the urge to call him a "fucking liar." He's as big a piece of shit as he ever was, spinning so hard he's just lucky his feet aren't threaded or he'd screw himself right into the floorboards.

Her responses amused me though. She looked flat disgusted just about every time he opened his mouth. Not only that, but I found her point interesting--we should check with the People to see how the economy's doing, that they're a more reliable indicator than the corporations.

I don't know anything about her--I don't watch the corporate media as a rule, but I liked what I saw here.

Any thoughts?

1. I watched it myself last night. I hadn't realized the new season just started.
Missed New Rules ... guess it takes a team of writers to create that segment.

3. Tony Snow is still toting the Bush lie and hasn't given up on
his Faux news propaganda. How someone who is dying can continually ball faced lie is a mystery to me. I guess if you have no conscience, which he does not have, it's OK. :dem;

8. Matt Tiabbi is his name and yes he's been a writer
for Rolling Stone for awhile now. After his segment I had to stop watching, Tony Snow makes me want to puke.

9. He Is... Matt Tiabbi... Does Political Editorials For Rolling Stone!
A really great guy! I get Rolling Stone and he's written some very good articles. Some aren't always in support of the things Democrats do, but basically he's Pro-Democrat!

13. Usually I like to watch Real Time
and was really looking forward to Friday night's show since it was the start of the new season, but Maher's constant harping on Hilary's minor emotional moment in NH just before the primary first annoyed me, then angered me. Then Snow came on and it was time to call it quits.

14. Yeah...I didn't like that either.
But the discussion was certainly interesting. Crier seems to have her head on straight. Cuban pissed me off with his RW talking points re: Edwards, and Tony Snow was... a screwball.

18. I was surprised by Cuban. His tax the fat cats is not a RW talking
point. RW talking point=tax the lower and middle class promising tax cuts that go to the fat cats.

19. Mark Cuban is a liberal
He has a boatload of money, which he spoke about. He owns HDNet. Produced a very good program about voting machines and is very well versed. I have been impressed by him before. I'm sure I will be again.

17. I've seen Crier before on Real Time
and she is very sharp, but Tony Snow ruined the show for me. We have all seen enough of him to last a lifetime. I don't watch Bill Maher to see the same assholes I've had to endure for years in the MSM. I wish he'd rethink his decision to include right-wingers on the show for balance. They often end up dominating the show. If I wanted to see them, I'd watch FOX.

20. I just finished watching it myself...
LOVED Matt Taibbi and Catherine Crier.

I was surprised by one of Marc Cuban's comments...about Edwards' message regarding Corporate America.

Bill made the comment that he was surprised Edwards isn't polling better, since his message would seem to speak to the vast majority of American citizens. Matt said he feels the media shapes the race; they set the storylines essentially, and John Edwards' speeches about so many Americans living in poverty and having no healthcare doesn't sit well with these well-paid reporters on these exorbitant expense accounts. No fun for them...lol.

But Cuban said he thinks John's message scares most people because they're afraid if corporations are taxed more, people are afraid it will lead to layoffs.

First of all, John's message - ANYONE's message about Corporate America's excesses - makes me think more along the lines of limiting corporate lobbies' control on Washington and the stranglehold they have on our democracy. I don't automatically think "corporate taxes." After the lobby issue, I do think of how corporations get away with outrageous tax shelters and think of the outrageous CEO salaries/bonuses even when the company performs poorly and ends up in layoffs.

That's my thought process as a middle-class citizen. I wonder if Cuban's thoughts went to "corporate taxes" because he is, or has been, owner of a large corporation and that issue would hit home for him. NOT that he is against paying his fair share...he was very clear about that.

I was simply surprised by his take on the corporate message. And I will say John has been very careful to not be "anti corporation." Not at all. He's been against corporate CONTROL of our democracy.

What do you think? Do you think when politicians talk about holding corporations accountable it scares people...that, even if they know the companies are taking advantage of employees, they don't want them held accountable for fear it will result in job loss? If so, that is a level of defeatism I hadn't considered.

I would think John's message would empower the "little people" (like me) and not scare them.

Do you think Cuban's perspective was because he is one of the BIG PEOPLE (top 1%), even if he's liberal?

21. Yeah, I do. I think he's misunderstanding the message
but, then again, so might America be.

Edwards is talking about corruption and monopolies. He's basically talking about the same things Teddy went after. Teddy did what needed to be done and that's pretty much all Edwards wants to do. He doesn't want to destroy corporations, just back them out of the political process and make sure they're not jeopardizing America or Americans.

25. That is a rw talking point that Cuban made about corps being taxed resulting in lays off.
It's BS and shouldn't be repeated by someone who is a liberal.
