2. They definitely want Edwards out
They probably think they can't get rid of Edwards as easily while Dennis is still in the race.

Dennis is a brilliant man in is continued pursuit. He is running for President while also running for reelection to his House seat.
He can NOT use the money from the Presidential campaign but every time he does advertise for President his name is mentioned and there are no rules that say that when he runs an add that it specifically says President except the endorsement at the end or in fine print.

Also staying in the race also gives him a voice on the national stage for what ever issue he feels needs to be brought up. Yeah, the media is after Dennis too.

3. Dennis will hold the 'popular' candidates feet to the fire.
His stand on the Iraq war, health care, the 'Patriot' Act, Habeas Corps, NSA and more are clear. He stands for the American people and the Constitution. Unfortunately the other candidates stand in the hand of the Corporations. Sorry to say it but why would the others agree to debate without Dennis unless it was to their advantage?

4. Because they have to adjust the height of the camera pedestals every time they cut to a shot of him.

If Dennis had agreed to bring his own apple crate with him, it wouldn't be an issue.

5. because he has no realistic chance of winning or even influencing the outcome
There are 14 candidates on the ballot. DK manages to top some of them in the polls, but just barely. Or, to put it another way, he's closer in the polls to the fringe candidates that don't register any support at all than he is to the top three candidates.

6. It's a distraction from potential "gotcha" moments..
The more people they have to let speak and pose questions to, the less time Hillary and Obama will have to answer questions and to talk, and the less potential they have for them to say something that can be a "gotcha" moment and played repeatedly and dwelled and focused on.

And that's their main goal in everything they do in the corporate media, so....there you have it.

15. no, it's backwards
It shows up Edwards as a faux anti-corporatist, or if you prefer, corporatist lite.

8. ObamaHillary likely want him out & NBC does not want to hear IMPEACH said
ObamaHillary the 2 peas in a pod corporate candidates would rather not have dennis there because he is the most progressive candidate and makes them look like what they are IMO.

9. I doubt it was NBC making that decision.
Usually when candidates are barred from a debate, it's because one or more of the major candidates said they won't show up if a minor candidate is included.

Just speculation, but it was probably Clinton saying she won't participate if Kucinich is included (he'll hit her on the war) or possibly Edwards saying he won't attend (he wants the populist vote.)

12. If It Was Your Candidate...
The endgame here is face time...and I would suspect all three of the top campaigns would be hoping to exclude Kucinich just for the fact they will get extra time to speak their peace. The ultimate decision belongs to GE/Universal/NBC...they pay the dime here and have decided they want only the three top candidates...fitting into their reality show/horse race game.

If there's any candidate who needs to "hit it out" tonight, it's Edwards. Nevada is his make or break...a win here and he's back on the media radar, a loss (and second won't help here) all but pulls the plug.
