Dirty Business:The Real Reason Warner Went Blu-ray
http://gizmodo.com/344680/the-real-reason-warner-went-blu+ray

Warner actually wanted to go HD DVD. They gave Toshiba the chance to bring another studio into the HD DVD camp before they turned Blu. Fox was lined up, and told the HD DVD camp it was going to switch to HD DVD, which would've also turned Warner exclusively HD DVD. At the last possible minute, it nixed the deal.

Lindich says it's because Fox received a reported $120 million payout from Sony to stay Blu-ray—Warner then switched and received between $400 and $500 million for its defection. BW says it's closer to $400 million.

Yeah the studios love Blu-ray because it's obviously the superior format. :eyes:

4. Sony, blessed with brilliant engineers,
cursed with bean-counters from hell. So many things they've done could have turned out brilliantly, but they're like a five year old screaming "mine, mine!'. One small example of many, their mp3 players. In order to play mp3 tracks, you first have to convert them to a proprietary* Sony format called ATRAC. Thanks, but no thanks.

*I'm aware that mp3 is also a proprietary format. Go ogg vorbis!

6. I Hope It's Just In Regards...
to your entertainment decisions or your being sarcastic. Either way it does piss me off to no end.
