2. I agree with Al Gore on this
Like Al Gore said on Larry King Live in the summer of 2006, NAFTA was a wonderful idea to counteract an economic crisis in Mexico and create more jobs south of the border - to curb the rising tide of illegal immigration. Other developments in the aftermath of those years, principally the rise of China and the movement of jobs from Mexico to China and to other Asian countries, made the situation worse than it would have otherwise been. But without the agreement that was made and without the shoring up of their economy back then, it could have been much worse still.

The negative effects of NAFTA haven't gone unnoticed which why Hillary Clinton didn't vote for CAFTA and is calling for structural changes in existing trade policies.

5. But I've read that NAFTA forced immigration from Mexico
because it forced them to take our corn, the growing of which is subsidized by our government, and small farmers in Mexico couldn't compete. Talk about unfair trade!

6. Now wait a minute AL Gore was the one
that debated Ross Perot about NAFTA and he thought it was a great idea back then. This is the first time I ever heard he had change of heart on the thing.

7. there has been no real change of heart. He thought it was a great idea but...
unforeseen circumstances have caused many to take another look at it.

8. So he was for it, now even though it hasn't
worked out so well, he is still for it. That sounds like GWB's stand on the Iraq occupation.:eyes:

4. I don't really know who to support
but I think Hillary has said she would make sure US environmental and labor standards were followed by our trading partners. Bill Clinton promised the same and didn't deliver. The only thing I know about Obama is we are supposed to hope he makes changes. What changes I don't know. He makes a great speech repeating hope and change a lot though.

12. Isn't it OBVIOUS by now Hilliary AND Obama are corporate shills

They are better then Repukes on social issues, but not that much. Where is the demand for equal rights for all, gay marriage, universal not for profit health care, & the rebuilding of our educational systems with a new emphasis on critical thought?

We need a revolution. The people don't even want to read a book.

Give it two or three years when the shit REALLY hits the fan. Then, perhaps, just maybe, the majority will be ready to face the truth. We need a PERCEPTION change for real change.
