If you were a republican, who would you vote for?
Just consider the nightmares and aches your counterparts from the other end of the political spectrum are going through. Consider you would have to vote for a republican candidate.

What kind of stereotype would you want to be your next president:
* The filthy-rich slick guy?
* Somebody who mixes God and politics?
* The grumpy old soldier?
* The one-issue-candidate?

And what stereotype would you most likely want to face as a democratic contender?
* A chick?
* A minority dude?
* A commie?

I'd go with the grumpy old soldier.
And for the democrats? A commie-type candidate would be the toughest challenge, given the current economic problems. Maybe the woman could get the women votes. So I'd pick the minority guy.

1. Republicans shouldn't vote. They should kill themselves.

But, in answer to your query, I guess I would vote for McCain.

2. If I were a Republican I would vote for a Democrat
The party with the best record of serving Republican economic values is the Democrats.

Democratic Superority, by the Numbers

3. I'd go for the grumpy old soldier...
...but I'd need to know who his VP would be since he's about 138 years old.

7. Looking at who has signs and stuff out around here
I'd be voting for Ron Paul. Huckabee is HATED in northwest Arkansas because he raised taxes and messed with the schools. And this is the reddest part of the state.

9. y'know, it's funny you ask this, as i'm a registered republican...
and have admitted openly ages and ages ago on DU. it's really no biggie being registered as such. i get to ignore the tension of the democratic primaries while getting all the hilarious propaganda from the GOP. in fact, i've found it a wonderful indicator on how to vote: it's amazing how often they send you little guides to vote straight across "party interests"; all you have to do is vote the opposite and, voila', you're probably doing the moral thing. very easy, spent years and years comparing how wrong the party is on my pocketbook and moral values, and it consistently gets a 100% rating on being my polar opposite. quite useful technique for viewing real politics, i'll state clearly for the record.

anyhoo, i'm probably going to write in somebody. i was thinking Dennis Kucinich, but that's a bit of a waste as it's just going to be thrown away and "blow my cover," if you will. i'm thinking something more humorous and yet plausible. i'm giong to write in Ronald Reagan Jr. it strike the right stance as believable, because it's almost like i'm some "lost sheep republican pining for the golden years of Reagan," while at the same time being wholly antithetical to their entire design, considering that Reagan Jr. is a pretty awesome guy and likely incredibly progressive politically. if i'm really successful i might be able to stir up a meme to run Ronald Reagan Jr. as some sort of protest write-in candidate, if not now maybe for the next election. either way it entertains me, and as we all know it's the punchline that truly matters about these things.

10. Sorry, I can't answer.
It is simply impossible for me to imagine myself being a Republican. You might as well have asked, "If you were a pile of camel poop, who would you vote for?"

She has done the best job of looking after traditional Republican interests, and she's not too religiously insane.

14. Since I'm in Connecticut
and if I was Republican, I'd likely be one of those rich country-club types. That means I'd vote for Romney. He's the candidate most for big business - I saw Jack Welch touting him on MSNBC last week.

Oddly, though, McCain is way ahead in the polls here, despite Romney & Rudy being from neighboring states.

I actually voted for him once. Of course his opponent is now in jail for 37 years!

18. I voted for Lieberman in '88, '94 and '00 for senator
and, I probably voted for him for state Attorney General if I was old enough.

Phil Giordano should be in jail for life, not just 37 years.

By the way, since you're in Maryland now, the city of Waterbury has offered a job to our illustrious former governor, John Rowland.

20. I voted for Weicker in 88. Joe came across too smarmy and fake
to me then. BTW, I lived in Waterbury/Watertown in the late 80's early 90's and that is so fitting about Rowland. Ironically at that time, I ran into Toby Moffett at a bar in Waterbury.

Do you remember Santopietro who got busted for corruption? Waterbury, what a city!

22. I just know Waterbury has a history of crooked politicians
I liked Weicker in '88, but I voted Lieberman in order for Dems to get another seat in the Senate, where I thought votes on judicial appointments was more important.

I don't think Lieberman was as divorced from reality then as he is now, and Weicker was kind of a pompous blowhard at times.
