I own two houses. One I live in, one I don't
and neither does anyone else.

My gas heating bill was IDENTICAL for both houses this month.

Identical to the last cent.

Another example of the bullshit one has to put up with in this fucked up country.

Have you ever tried talking to the people who bill your utilities? It's an experience, and one that does not lead to satisfaction.

Rant over.

1. I see the problem...........
.....I have 3 houses, two I don't live in, but somebody else does! Those two pay my electric bill AND my insurance bill And my car payment each month! Simple logic my dear Watson!

2. I don't like to rent to others
too much crap to put up with.

Still. It doesn't change what I said in the initial post. An identical bill for two houses. One that someone lives in and one that no one lives in.

:-)

This has been a bit of a big story here. Lots more misbilling and wrong billing and malfunctioning meters.

6. Read your meters yourself and compare to the bills.
Use a digital camera to document.
Ask for itemised/comprehensive account, even if you have to pay a couple of bucks for the privilege.
Do you have the central in the other place turned on to prevent freezing damage? If so, how well insulated is this second property. What differences are there in the plant. What are your thermostat settings?
Is the meter in the second property accessible?

And finally: Coincidences happen. Wait for it to happen again before crying conspiracy.

15. Many times they estimate for months and then do a "catch-up" bill for actual usage.

10. water company charged me for 60000 gallons when the average
is 17000 in the same period, when I first bought the house. A house I owned that I rented to a family of four used less water - I know because I paid that bill too. I told my cats that they had to cut down on their baths.

I complained to the water co., but they refused to change it; and there was nothing I could do since they claimed it was based on actual readings. But I have never been hit with that big a bill since. If I had, then I would have had to find a way to fight it.
