Well, here in Georgia they evidently do -- check out the list at:

http://georgiademocrat.org/175taxes

175 New Republican Taxes! (And counting)

The following services would be subject to state sales and use taxation effective on January 1, 2010, if the Republican tax plan is allowed to pass.

Just a few of the listings --

-offices of certified public accountants

- tax preparation services

-other accounting services

-real estate credit

-all other non-depository credit intermediation

-mortgage and non-mortgage loan brokers

-financial transactions processing, reserve, and clearing-house activities

-other activities related to credit intermediation

-trust, fiduciary, and custody activities

Automotive Services

-general automotive repair

-automotive exhaust system repair

-automotive transmission repair

-other automotive mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance

-automotive body, paint, and interior repair and maintenance

-automotive glass replacement shops

So they try to cut property taxes and make a big ballyhoo about it when the cameras are running. But they start placing taxes to nickel and dime everyone else (most likely to make up for other tax cuts they promise their constituents.) :wow:

1. Rethugs don't call it taxes. They call it "user fees"
or something similar...

5. Even better is the strategem: starting wars, expanding the prison-industrial complex -- and then ...
running up a huge STRATEGIC MEGADEFICIT for them. That means someone (ie the Democrats) have to play the 'bad guy' and come up with taxes to pay for all the debt they have unilaterally generated (also true of the Reagan/poppy Bush era)
