It's just so hard to accept that these criminals can break the law...
...and get away with it. But they have and they will. The Bible says to steal once but steal no more. So these robbers steal enough the first time to last a lifetime. We know they have broken laws by spying on millions of Americans. They have tortured prisoners in violation of international laws. They have destroyed evidence in regards to emails and other communications. They have politicized our judicial system with the hiring and firing of US Attorneys, some of them which were investigating crimes of their political buddies. They have violated the Constitution and even have done away with the habeus corpus rights that have been adhered to since the Magna Carta. They have lied to Congress.

Yet, they will get away with it. They will not be held accountable. And that is hard to accept.

Criminals can be prosecuted more easily when they can't hide behind
"presidential immunity." (That "presidential immunity" needs to be rethought anyway.)

4. Congress will not prosecute treason, but they will prosecute a baseball player for steroids....
I mentioned that at work yesterday and my coworker said (SERIOUSLY) "That's because he was a role model to kids everywhere and used illegal drugs"

I guess the President isn't a role model, silly me for thinking kids might notice that he lies and gets away with it, breaks the law and gets away with it.....

6. Now Suspend Reality And Belief...
We've been living through the looking glass for the past 7 years...our worst nightmares realized and this country destroyed in the process. There's no great consolation in having been witness to this...or predicting what happened and then sitting back, powerless, as not only did the predictions come true but far worse than anyone could have thought possible.

We've endured an almost 30 year lie by repugnicans and conservatives...how they were the competent party, the moral party...it got said over and over again that enough people bought the big lie. They didn't see the real puppetmasters who thought this ruse would enable them to fleece the economy and turn the government into their plantation. It took nearly 5 years of booosh's excesses to finally get people to wake up to the lies, but they still believe enough of it...or at least the corporate media still can get away with the memes...but take a look at where we were a couple years ago and now, and I think we have turned a corner...slowly, but it has been turned.

When it's said "they will get away with it"...sadly some will...the corruption has been so widespread that it will take decades to really get a handle on all the damage that was done and who did it. Nance Greggs hits the nail on the head in her post as to the difficult job and landmines awaiting whom ever takes over on 1-20-09...a mess so deep it will easily take a majority of 4 years to get a handle on it.

The ultimate judge on this regime will be the future and history. I suspect there will be a big attitude change in this country following the election and with it a different outlook on this regime. Should Democrats win big, this will be a mandate to clean house and to finally be able to investigate and get answers. We know boooshie won't hesitate to pardon any of his cretins who are indicted before 1-20-09...and I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to pull some post-election "immunity" on the crimes of his regime. We must fight that.

My hopes are the dossiers in the world court are being compiled and the biggest crimes of this regime are addressed where they should...The Hague!

Cheers...

7. The lack of action by the Congress has done as much as this Administration..
to destroy my faith in the system. I realize they have been in the minority for much of the time. But they will not be excused by history either.

8. No Excuses...Just Responsibility
I keep pointing out that it wasn't long ago that many "pundits" were ready to declare the Democratic party dead...and they weren't too far from right. Just look back two years and remember the Democrats were on the abyss of both a veto proof House and Senate. Thank goodness we averted that unmitigated disaster...but we've still got a long way to go.

The problem with being in the minority so long...it's like the peons taking over the ship...they see the wheel but they haven't quite figured out how to steer this thing and where to steer it. It's been a painfully slow learning curve and I don't blame you for losing your faith in the system...I'm frustrated as well. While I wish Democrats had more spines, a rush to judgement with a flawed investigation that vindicates this regime would be a real travesty.

The book on the crimes of this regime have yet to be written...and I am content on it happening after this regime can abuse its power any longer with executive privilidge or pardons. I will be vilgilent...and I hope others are as well...to demand accountability for the ruin of this country, and I suspect others will be demanding that as well. One day there will be the questions of "who lost Iraq", "who destroyed the economy", "who ruined the military" and many others...and that's when the accounting process will really begin.

Time is the avenger. We can't live in the past, but move forward, get stronger, hold true to our common goals and the truth will out.

Cheers...

10. I won't accept it for a second
Where we find ourselves today is a perilous place in time. The forefathers knew or had a pretty good idea that something or someone like these would come along and thats why there is so many checks and balances. If the constitution is taken for what it is this can never happen but here today we're are at this precipice. Its going to be one or the other, we are a nation of laws not men or we will no longer be a democracy. I say lets not give in to the 'theres nothing we can do crowd' and continue to fight for our country until our last breath if need be, she's worth it and in bad need of our support not 'giveinness'. The bush/cheney cabal will be brought to justice even though it might be with the united states congresscritters kicking and screaming the whole way but they will be making a trip to the Hague as sure as I'm setting here today. They have the power of their position at the moment that keeps things as they are but the time is drawing near that they no longer will be in possession of that power. Its close to put up or shut up time for them to make their bold move and seal this coup we've been witnesses too these last 7 plus years, actually it started back in '80 with raygun, sidetracked with Bill Clinton's administration but not gone, just put on hold a few years was all. The Bush/Cheney cabal cannot walk away as free people, we done that once and it didn't work out to well for us, huh, but the rest of the world will see to that, everyone is in a hold pattern at the moment hoping that we, you and I will get out there in the streets and make some noise and put a stop to this, they, will, come jan '09 if we don't, that I believe. Bushco is responsible for killing a million people I would say at least and the rest of the world aren't going to let them get away with it, they do today because they have the big guns if you know what I mean. Yep they have the big guns and have shown the world they are not afraid to use them. Yes we are in perilous times but as long as we have breath and any strength at all we collectively have the power to stop this, we must do it if we want it on our terms. If we leave it for others to do for us then the outcome will be the same we will have lost our democracy. simple as that I'm afraid IMHO,

12. I guess it really is not of the people by the people and for the people
After All. I am not sure it ever truly was. The powerful would not be so powerful if they could be brought down easily. I can't make up my mind whether to just let it go and try and bring America back together as one nation as Obama preaches or try and follow the Laws of our country and hold criminals accountable. It is very mixed at this moment in time. Both are extremely desirable.

13. But are those mutually exclusive aims? I think pursuing justice for the
criminal admin. would bring the country together. I think it's like a festering wound that can only be cleansed by pursuing justice.

16. It would be depicted as a partisan witchhunt by the MSM
It would become devisive because it is a Republican Culture of Corruption and at least a third of Americans clasify themselves as Republicans. It is mutually exclusive. We either come together as a country and let bygones be bygones or go for the Republican's throat.
