Publicist claims Prince Harry's frontline stint a PR stunt
PRINCE Harry’s stint on the frontline in Afghanistan was a “PR stunt” that has not fooled the British public, said publicist Max Clifford.

The Household Cavalry officer’s 10-week deployment in Helmand Province was “virtual reality” because senior commanders would have guarded him from real danger, he claims.

The pictures of Harry leading troops in the desert will not transform his party-loving image because most people see he has been given special treatment over thousands of other soldiers, Clifford said.

“To me it’s blatantly obvious. It’s a PR stunt, the whole thing has been put together. When Harry went out he was getting increasing bad publicity from hanging around in clubs and pubs, and coming out drunk. It happened immediately after that. I don’t think you’re cynical for saying, ’hold on a minute’”.

2. What the hell else would anyone think?
That was such a transparent stunt.

Same as when they jammed Prince Charlie into an airplane way back when.

15. I didn't say that.
I just said they used to try and make the wimp look like a tough guy.

Then they put him on a polo pony, but he kept falling off and getting hurt. So they cut that crap out.

16. I can believe that. I was just saying that as an heir he did not get a
choice to go or not. His younger brother did have a traditional choice.

13. It was Andrew who was in the Falklands. He is the second child and
the heir is not allowed to be in the military. Harry is no different.

Big deal, the lad parties. Doesn't mean he didn't do his job. And even being there at all is a hell of a lot more than chicken hawks or this guy have done.

4. That's the first and only thing that ever crossed my mind ..
AS IF!! The "royal family" would allow him to actually be killed or injured in Afghanistan ... or anywhere else for that matter.
Too bad the average joe schlepp doesn't get the same "break" ...

"Oh my! You're Mr.& Mrs. Schlepps's son, aren't you? We can't have you fighting in a war, my dear.
Why you might be killed! Run along now. Back home you go!!"

5. I thought it was kind of a Brit-Royal tradition for the second son to have a military career...
I don't idealize either the British or their Royals, but I wouldn't automatically knock his efforts. If he does want -- or is being steered toward -- a military career, then this experience in the field is important. They have a tradition that goes back centuries, unlike the fake royalty currently inhabiting the White House.

Just sayin'
