Attorney General Mukasey has announced that he won't refer contempt citations against Josh Bolten or Harriet Miers to the grand jury, as he's supposed to.

Why, then, are articles of impeachment against Attorney General Mukasey not sitting in the hopper right now?

1. Evidently everyone on the Hill
is campaigning. :sarcasm:

With the distractions of the primaries
and the upcoming general election, BFEE
will continue their shit unchecked.
Isn't there a single Democrat on the Hill
with any backbone to at least speak out
on this? Bueller? Anyone?

2. They are filing a legal suit against him.
But as it stands, it's not really an impeachable offense. He doesn't have to pursue charges if he doesn't want to, as I understand it (which could be wrong). Nor would proceedings be completed in anywhere near a timely enough fashion so as to actually boot him out of office before his term is up anyhow. There's no point whatsoever.

3. An impeachable offense is anything they say it is
Remember, they ran an impeachment proceeding against the last legitimately-elected president of the United States because he lied about getting a blowjob.

4. That's a VAST oversimplification.
Really, you're stretching it there. Clinton was impeached for perjury, which isn't quite the same as merely lying about a blowjob. While that still has questionable merit as an impeachable offense, that clearly doesn't open the door for "anything they say it is."
