I mean - "Spitzer caught in prostitution ring"

Makes you think like he was part of it, no?

COME ON, THE GUY WAS JUST SEEING CALL GIRLS

Granted, not a smart move when everyone is watching you, but then again, I have a penis and I know how it works.

I hope he doesn't resign

1. Before he spoke and it was clear they were saying "involved in a prostitution ring" I sure thought

he was working with one doing something.

2. While I agree the reporting of it is intentionally misleading, Mr. Spitzer
isn't reprehensible for just having a penis and/or just seeing call girls. He was actively participating in something he actively prosecuted and spoke out against as the ethical AG. Sorry, there's a difference. I am sick at the thought that he wouldn't resign.

4. Is that really corruption, however, seeing call girls?
It's illegal - and it shouldn't be.

8. I couldn't care less about the sex. It's the hypocrisy. It's the speaking
out against and prosecuting of those who were involved in the very same thing he was later caught doing. Mr. Spitzer prosecuted and was quite vocally disgusted with two prostition rings while he was AG. There is the problem. There is where he is the slimiest of slime.

To stand there and acted disgusted with the people he prosecuted and then get caught? Yeah, he gets my derision. He can't leave office fast enough and it has nothing to do with where he sticks his penis.

3. he's a Dem, GWB fired a bunch of Attys Gen because they didn't prosecute Dems...
This AG was given his job by the Bush Admin....

Is this another "let's smear Dems"? I mean - where was the Repuke outrage over Vitter and his prostitutes changing his dirty diapers? Was HE forced to resign? NO! What about Craig trying to pick up men in a bathroom? Was HE forced to resign? EVEN AFTER HIS CONVICTION?!? NO.

Fine - Spitzer had a call girl, BFD.

7. I know, those headlines have my blood pressure up
The only thing that could possibly justify lurid headlines like that is if he'd been one of the ringleaders who'd been arrested. As it is, he's just a john who overpaid for a service and hoped the overcharge would insure discretion.

The only thing that would make him a felon instead of a fool would be a charge to the service on the taxpayer's back.

9. Earlier this evening, my mother said ...
"He should resign right now! He's running a prostitution ring!"

I said, "No, that's not what happened. He hired a prostitute."

She said, "On the news, they said he was involved in a prostitution ring."

I learned about the matter on DU, but I had not seen any news reports, so I turned on the TV ... and my mother was right. They kept saying Spitzer was "involved in" and "caught in" a prostitution ring!

:wtf:

Politicians have gotten caught with prostitutes before ... but I don't ever recall the media using the words "caught in a prostitution ring" or "involved in a prostitution ring" to report the story!

What's going on?

10. what he did doesn't bother me.
i don't look for my political leaders to provide a 'moral guiding light'. --

that notion is dangerous in itself.

what does bother me are legislative moralists that try to write their version of morals into law.

hello vitter and craig.

11. Yup, several of us have posted this question, was he the pimp or the john. Another thing, why were
they wiretapping him?

16. They were not wiretapping
him. The Feds were investigating this prostitution ring and one of the callgirls told the Feds he was client #9 and it appears this is not the first time he'd had dealings with this group.
Also there is the question of moving money across state lines, a violation of the Mann Act.

Stay tuned, the hints are there is a lot more to come.

18. Ah, that makes more sense. So the feds are wiretapping high class callgirls?
I know the reasons for the illegality, just trying to understand the mechanisms.

20. Can't we have a little levity here?
I mean its one thing to be railroaded - and come on, guys with power complexes need their fix. That's 100% of politicians there.

There's Republican scullduggery behind every Democrat in trouble. That's my rule of thumb.

23. The Bush "Justice" Department has two missions:
voter fraud (which is code for voter suppression) and public corruption (which is code for hanging Democrats).
