Uh, because the oil companies are getting the oil, not the American people. And another reason oil and gasoline are so expensive is not so much because the price has gone up, but because the value of the dollar has gone down. And that's gone down because the economy and federal budget have been mis-managed by the Bush mis-administration.

That comment threw me back too...the WMD's were a METAPHOR! Saddam and his sons are now WMD's. With complete fiction being told on a "reputable" national news show, and with no challenge from the moderator who obviously knows better...it makes the Newshour as suspect as all the rest of the corporate media. Sad and maddening. And that one comment was just the tip of the iceberg...lots of untruths, right wing talking points from the past that have long ago been proven false, and none of it challenged for its validity.
