We have made tremendous progress in Iraq but it would not be wise at this time to withdraw our troops and let the country slide back into the same anarchy and chaos we were experiencing at this time last year. It's going to take a little more time for this to work. We are on the right track. The attacks in Basra only highlight how much resistance to the government of Iraq is still left in the country. In order for the country to maintain stability, we will need to stay there at least for another year.

We need another $150 billion to bribe the anti-government Shiites led by al Sadr. Only by paying their bribes will we be assured of maintaining some semblance of order. The government has lost all control of the present government. The militia that deserted during the Basra attack, more than a thousand, shows the extent of disloyalty to Maliki and this government.
