Air America Statement re: Randi Rhodes
STATEMENT OF CHARLIE KIREKER, CHAIR & MARK GREEN, PRESIDENT, FOR AIR AMERICA MEDIA

Last week Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for abusive, obscene language at a recent public appearance in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.

Air America Media was informed last night by Ms. Rhodes that she has chosen to terminate her employment with the company.

We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America. We will soon announce exciting new talent and programming that will accelerate Air America’s growth in the future.

2. We lost our AAR station over a year ago -- we mourned.
Now that they blew off Randi, I'll just consider AAR dead.

Yeah, Randi is a blowhard, is intemperate, ill-mannered, and interrupts. I also love her show. And without her, and with Al Franken gone, there is nothing to recommend AAR to me anymore.

3. Good for Randi
Air America now has the problem of finding someone who'll appeal to the listeners while sucking up to the
corporations that own their soul.

5. They might as well go full RW hate.
Because true progressives will never satisfy their corporate-(fucking)whore needs.

6. I can't wait until Monday
to find out what SHE has to say. Does anybody know if she'll be on her regular time slot at 3 on the east coast?

7. Well they have lost Franken, downsized Seder
now lost Randi. Maybe they don't realize the talent IS the franchise?
I expect Rachel to move to TV soon, which leaves Thom Hartmann as name talent. And Thom owns his own show so he could leave fairly easily.

11. They are idiots
I wish someone would reassemble the original cast and broadcast them. Morning Sedition, gone. Franken, gone. Sam and Ms. Garafolo (never get her first name right), gone for all intents and purposes.

How sad.

13. Perhaps Randi could syndicate her own show. There are plenty of
markets that will jump on that in a heartbeat. Does anyone think that this has been the goal all along? Seems they are weeding out the more progressive hosts, either to drown out progressive views and attract big corporate DLC advertising. I hope Rachel gives them the finger, and Thom Hartmann better watch his back.

If Larry Johnson has managed to weasel Taylor Marsh into Randi's spot, I hope Air America tanks.

12. And I'll bet they don't put Sam in her time slot. I bet they'll move that idiot Lionel in.
They think the sun shines out of his ass.
