Scary article about devaluation of the dollar!
Now I realize that the following link is to a bullion dealer site, so I take this with a grain of salt. This article outlines a possible doomsday scenario that could occur because of our tremendous debt, and the possibility of printing too much money to pay this ever-increasing debt. Perhaps some DU economists can comment on this possibility. An interesting read- it opened my eyes for sure!

1. What is your candidate going to do about the declining
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 06:18 AM by mac2
dollar? What has he done as a member of the Congress? They are spending money on defense like "drunken sailors". This is Bush's plan to destroy us for his Americas Union.

Ask why not impeachment for his treason?

2. I wasn't posting in Primaries, because I honestly do not know what any of the candidates are going
to do to get us out of this grave mess. This wasn't meant to be about Presidential politics, just looking to see if anyone had something of value to add to this article. 99.9% of DU wants Bush impeached, of course, but that is not what this topic is about. What do you believe should be done to avert hyperinflation?

6. Get out of Iraq and the WTO
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 06:59 AM by mac2
We are bleeding for their profit. You can bet their profits go into British off-shore banks (the Pound or Euro).

Peolsi wants to spend 200 plus billion again on this war. She and her husband profit.

Congress gives billions to Israel who keep it going and the area in constant chaos. Suddam was our guy. Empire building is destroying the world. Our wealth is not endless.

It is not enough to promise change when they can't do "change".

I figure the Neo Cons in DC hate us and their country.

5. My point exactly. How do we know WTF they want to do?
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 07:15 AM by dammitann
Either one. For that matter, frankly, including every Democratic Senator we have. Impeachment should already be a DONE DEAL. Prez McSame, here we come.

8. People should be asking them.
This hero worship has to end. Pushing a candidate for office is clearly not the answer if they can't bring us to another place.

I've donated too much since 2000 to see our party leaders put in the same old, same old. Then when the new "reformers" go to DC they betray our agenda (at least most do). It appears that they take turns betraying us. Clearly the party leadership brings them into their agenda. Whatever that is. It certainly isn't progressive or "change".

I figure this is why they want all the decisions made before the convention...so "messy issues" such as jobs, dollars, trade, open borders, war, etc. is not discussed. No platform except that of the candidate and party leaders. It will be a pep rally like the previous ones since 2000. The American people (by a large margin and in both parties) have been demanding change but they ignore us.

I have no choice, as a thinking human, to be anything other than a Democrat, but it is not easy these days. Somebody better stand up soon, my legs are getting tired.

7. The inevitable results of raiding the lock-box for decades and the Federal
government existing largely to further enrich large corporations and those who already own 95% or so of the wealth at the expense of society (we the people) in general. But never fear: the US has enough nukes to destroy the world a thousand or more times over. :grr:

10. Corporations are self destructive that is why they are monitored
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 06:56 AM by mac2
We have charters and laws to protect them and us. Their bottom line is profit above all else. They are not being good organization for the community, workers, or shareholders. Where is that Corporate Responsibility Law and good corporate governance Congress?

Bush destroyed our agencies (moved the boxes to empty them) so they can do as they please. Even kill some of us with bad drugs and products.

I heard on my local radio station that foreign boats entering our fresh water Great Lakes are dumping bad things into it (Zebra muscles, etc.). Fisherman and activists want a law prohibiting that dumping. They want it treated before it is dumped. Congress is against it. What! It takes time and time is money. Whose interests are they acting and protecting. Certainly not ours.

It appears to me that Congress is one big frat club covering for each other and not doing their job (giving Bush their powers and decisions). War and terrorism is no excuse.

The Faith Based funding "religious cronyism" to favored religious organizations has to stop. It is unconstitutional and ruining freedom of religion. Their wealth is corrupting them. Their greed endless.

At those town hall meetings, etc.people should demand more of the candidates like impeachment and investigation of 911. Less spending and accountability for the lies (remember we did demand that in 2006?). As they go to the last few states they don't even want to "debate". How about answering our questions? Why not adhere to our Constitution and laws? When do we get it back? Are you going to do it like Jefferson when he first became President? Are we still a democracy?

We're so intent and fearful about winning against the Republi"can'ts" that we miss our purpose. We have to be brave and purposeful. They are not royals but "citizen representatives". We want answers but we also want them to adhere to our laws and nationhood.

11. Greenspan hatched the way to raid that "lock box".
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 07:37 AM by mac2
We collected extra dollars for the Baby Boomers who now apprear to be left without a "three legged stool" in their old age. The young have no safety net at all.

The criminal activity in our government is shameful.

12. Our government has become the antithesis of a government of the people, by the people, for the
people: the multi-trillion dollar raid on the lock-box to mostly inure as wealth of the already most affluent is the zenith of callous criminal genius, yet most in Congress are returned to office no matter how obscene their records. :grr:
