Cat crazy: Sometimes we act nuttier than our pets do
I've decided that if I ever get the opportunity to come back in another life, it's going to be as my cat.
He has the proverbial "life of Riley." I know a lot of that has to do with the fact he lives with someone who's crazy about him. He also came into my life when my need to be a control freak became much less of an issue.
I think if he had been part of my household when I was younger, he probably would have had to go into feline therapy. I never would have allowed him to jump up and sit on just about anything. I would have gone berserk if my duvet cover had hairs on it. I probably would have gotten a magnifying glass and picked them off one by one.
Certainly I never would have watched him lying around, staring, for no reason at all. How could that have been possible? After all, you need to be doing something so you're productive. Cats are definitely not productive. They just don't care.
My sleep being interrupted at strange hours would have gotten a lot of angry looks and loud sighs. Cats love to run around for no reason and seem to have discussions with other cats in the middle of the night.
In other words, they follow their bliss. They have a devil-may-care attitude about their masters. No matter what you do for them, they will not come when called or give affection unless it's their idea.

If I kill my dog and eat it, it is a crime. If I have herds of cattle and kill them for food I get paid.
I am sure as hell no vegan, but that does not not mean I cannot see where they come from on these issues.
BTW I had sausage for dinner and a chicken sandwich for lunch :)
We humans are a complex bunch - from emotions about each other and stress over bills, to eating other animals (who would eat us given the chance like sharks, lions, gators, etc are prone to do).
Maybe we just make it all too complex. The stronger animal eats the weaker one to survive. But we go a little further and protect some and eat others.
No god, no religion, just survival of the strongest at the expense of those not as strong. Which may explain why some are conservatives (more pure animal instincts) and some are liberal (seeing us as being able to be both strong and compassionate - or as the saying in 'A beautiful Mind' goes - do what is best for your self and others and everyone wins).
Give a person a fish and they can eat today, teach them to fish and then yell at them about it because they are not compassionate enough towards the fish
Lord we are a weird species ;)
