McCain had cancer surgery in February and didn't disclose it!
Edited on Fri May-23-08 01:34 PM by Truth2Tell
So this is buried on page two of the Newsweek report just out summarizing McCain's medical record releases:

McCain's most recent exams show a range of health issues common in aging: He frequently has precancerous skin lesions removed, and in February had an early stage squamous cell carcinoma, an easily cured skin cancer, removed. He had benign colon growths called polyps taken out during a routine colonoscopy in March.

Wuuut?

Edit to add: My concern with this isn't about the seriousness or lack thereof of the particular cancer - it's about McLame's lack of disclosure during the heat of a Presidential race.

1. The whole medical record release was done in a way where they could claim to have released them
with out properly releasing them. So much for the staight talk

15. It is all part of the timing game
Just like the jettisoning of Rev. Hagee. He needed Hagee to run right wing during the primaries, and has to disown him for teh GE.

There is no good time to remind people of the actuarial realities of a guy of his age. But of all times, this is the best. It doesn't affect his nomination, and gets out under the radar screen while Hillary is running her little spectacle.

Thanks again, Hillary for doing your best job of making life easy for the Republicans. If McCain doesn't name you his running mate, I hope he at least sends you some flowers.

18. Not just timing, they released nearly 2000 pages
and only gave select news agencies a few hours to review them (and they were not allowed to make copies). They played the needle in the hay stack game, on the American public.

2. there are better reasons not to vote for McCain,
but still, I have to wonder how someone who's not in excellent health would hold up for one of the most demanding jobs in the world.

5. Those have been done
But they're not part of the records that were "released." I think they're only putting out the stuff from 1990 on. As a former POW, you bet he's had psychiatric issues and assessments out the wazoo, but you'd best believe his campaign is NEVER going to make them public. Thomas Eagleton is still fresh in their memories.

4. Reading his medical records,
or what they've released of them, I saw that he's going to need knee replacement surgery in the near future.

That surgery is debilitating, painful, and takes quite a while to come back from. LOTS of physical therapy and VERY limited physical mobility - not to mention the pain, which is considerable and lasts a long time.

Just what we need, right?

Most seem to think it is a pretty innocuous type of cancer. However, my horse died of a bowel obstruction resulting from metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. It can be lethal in humans as well.

24. Can you provide a link
to where it was reported in February?

If that's true then I have a lot less of an issue with it.

A lot of blogs are reporting that today is the first mention of it... ??
