3. Surely everyone would agree that I'm about as filthy and contagious as they come...
And I've been pretty good (imho) back in GD.

So I don't think there'll be a big problem.

7. It's a foregone conclusion.
Under "normal" (non-primary) circumstances, GD:P becomes a little nest of political junkies, yapping at each other about things most people don't understand or care about, and GD has constant flamewars. I think the primary-season GD is DU at its best, but it can only happen when the rancor is funneled somewhere else.

8. Oh, come on! I washed my hands and wiped my shoes on the mat before I came in.
And I popped a breath mint in my mouth, too.

The situation on DU will become very clear-cut and simple after the nomination has been made official; if you say you will not vote for the nominee, or that you will vote for someone other than the nominee, you will be booted off DU.

Voila! No "filth and contagion" left to worry about!

Things will once again be all sunshine and puppies and kittens and rainbows on DU, just like it's always been.

:D

14. I voted "no" because the MODS said that they wouldn't allow it?
so am counting on them to quell any further flame wars once the presumptive nominee is announced - sometime in December, lol.

15. It will be different.
When the nomination is official, and the "cooling off" period is over, I hope that "General Discussion Primaries" becomes "General Discussion: Presidential Election."

Since criticism of the nominee will not be allowed at that point, you won't have the gang wars currently going on. It will be one big gang that will instantly purge dissent.

Leaving all of the campaign stuff in one forum would allow non-presidential campaign discussions to stick around long enough for people to find them and participate in them.

Otherwise, the place will be drowning in the GE, and everything else will sink so quickly we'll never know it was there.
