AFA Protests Fairness Doctrine...Says Abortion Stories would have to include, gasp, pro-choice views

Fairness Doctrine would muzzle truth from the airwaves
Urge your member of congress to support the Broadcaster Freedom Act

H.R. 2905, The Broadcaster Freedom Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), would prohibit the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) from reinstating the so-called Fairness Doctrine, a former FCC policy that the agency revoked in 1987. The policy required broadcasters to air contrasting viewpoints about controversial issues of public importance (as decided by FCC bureaucrats) or risk losing their license. For example, pro-life stories would need to include comments from Planned Parenthood or another pro-abortion group. It stifled speech which is guaranteed in the Constitution, and yet because talk radio tends to be conservative, those who come from the Leftist end of the political continuum want to do what they can to muzzle it and stifle it.

The Democratic leadership in Congress is now maneuvering to bring back this Fairness Doctrine, which would require the nation's TV and radio broadcasters to make time for voices on both sides of controversial issues. According to Rep. Pence, "The Broadcaster Freedom Act would ensure that no future President could regulate the airwaves of America without an act of Congress."

H.R. 2905 was introduced in the House in 2007 and was immediately referred to the Energy and Commerce Committee. The bill has been held up in the committee stage since its introduction. Later in 2007 Rep. Pence filed Discharge Petition No. 110-3 to force the release of H.R. 2905 from committee and allow an up or down vote by the House. To be successful a discharge petition requires the signatures of a majority of House members (218). The petition needs 28 more signers.

Take Action

1. The AFA can go fuck itself. I hope the Repubs lose another 30 seats in the House in November.
And if they do, I'm going to send them an email that asks them if God is punishing them for being such a bunch of pricks.

2. They REALLY need to rename Wildmon's little club
American Family Association my ass, it's more like "Against Faggits and Abortion." Because that's ALL they do. Bash gays, and picket abortion clinics.

Well, and beg for money.

3. This has been discussed so many times, yet the AFA continues to beat the horse
Pro-life stories would NOT have to require pro-Choice stories.

Christian ministries would be free to discuss pro-life on their panels without providing someone to balance the discussion.

Prior to 1987, there were hundreds of television ministries and no network had to provide equal time.

We didn't have:
6:00 The Old Time Gospel Hour
7:00 The New Fangled Gospel Hour
8:00 The Rabbinical Hour
9:00 This Old Mosque
10:00 Our Grand Pope
11:00 Meditate Like Buddha
12:00 Lao Tzu and You
1:00 The Teachings of Confuscius
2:00 Gardening Like Jesus
3:00 Satanic Horticulture
4:00 There is No God
5:00 Our God Shiva
6:00 Orthodox Teachings and The Metropole
7:00 Fixing Cars like Moses
7:30 Wrecking Cars Like Lot
8:00 Eastern Mysticism Home Repair
8:30 Building Demolition with Father John and Rev Tim
