Former Head of Walter Reed Hospital to Testify Before National Security Subcommittee

Chairman Henry A. Waxman and Subcommittee Chairman John Tierney sent a letter to Major General George W. Weightman, former Commander of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, regarding the privatization of support services at Walter Reed and its impact on the conditions at Walter Reed. In addition, Chairman Waxman signed a subpoena to compel Major General Weightman's testimony at the Subcommittee’s March 5 hearing, but the subpoena was not served when new Acting Secretary of the Army Peter Geren authorized General Weightman to testify before the Committee without compulsory process.

* Annette McLeod, Wife of Cpl. Wendell “Dell” McLeod

1. This story is huge
I was just at another board I frequent that doesn't usually talk politics at all-it's focus is on TV shows! The few times political stuff has come up, I've noted both conservative and liberal posters (very polite, deciding to agree to disagree and to drop the subject-unusual on boards, I think)--this time one poster quoted the Army Times article and others came on to say how terrible it was, the government was caught in yet another corruption scandal--not one person said anything in favor of Bushco at all--not even a lame excuse! I just posted the link to the article from your fine OP there (not a link here; like I said, it is a board with both liberals and conservatives and I want people to go to the link)--thanks for this additional information. It is keeping the pot a-boiling at this other board!

3. I hope this is on Cspan. Will this be the one that gets them? I keep asking myself,
what will be the final outrage? I heard his (*) approval rating is at 29 now. There's more coming (remember Waxman: "so many to choose from"). This wasn't the plan. It's all fallen apart much sooner than expected (by about 2 years). It's the Democrats who were supposed to have lost the war, not them! Its hard to believe that this war and all the constitutional abuses can't be hung around the republican party's neck forever and ever. amen.

4. I read the list and am angry - why is there no one on from IAP Worldwide
Services - the contractor? Will the Committee cover the contractor? The CEO is Neffgen, the President is Swindle, and these are other names involved in the contract - Peterson, Dominy, and Brostrom.

5. Health trumps money.
I just had to say that.

Another thought while riding my bike through the forest yesterday. Health is what it is all about. Not money. You couldn't give me a billion dollars to be tired and sick.

This story ought to be a monster.
