Sunday talk show tip sheet
Edited on Fri May-30-08 06:10 PM by EV_Ares
It’s an action-packed Sunday talk show circuit this week, as the primary season draws to a close and Democrats try to wrap their minds around the much-anticipated Florida-Michigan delegate compromise.

And, for those of you who are tired of hearing about the ongoing Democratic primary, former White House press secretary Scott McClellan will appear again and again on your living-room flat screens to mix things up a little. (We knew you needed a distraction!)

On ABC’s "This Week," George Stephanopoulos hosts Terry McAuliffe, chairman of New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign. McAuliffe will undoubtedly put on his cheeriest face, dissect the outcome of Saturday’s Democratic National Committee Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting (if there is an outcome by Sunday morning), strategize about the days ahead and — as always — answer a slew of questions about why Clinton is still in the race.

Will he make predictions about the upcoming primaries in Puerto Rico, South Dakota and Montana? And what happens after the primaries are over? Does Clinton stay in?

Then, Stephanopoulos shifts gears and interviews McClellan, who continues to make a round of talk show appearances after the release of his eye-opening new book, “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception.” Will the political firestorm surrounding the book continue?

Roundtable guests will be Todd Purdum of Vanity Fair, David Brooks of The New York Times and Democratic strategist Donna Brazile.

For those of you who need more McClellan, you’re in luck: he’s also on NBC’s "Meet the Press," where he’s likely to get the grilling of his life from host Tim Russert. For the rest of the show, Russert will host former South Dakota Sen. Tom Daschle, an Obama supporter, and Harold Ickes, a political strategist for Clinton.

On "Fox News Sunday," Howard Wolfson, communications director for the Clinton campaign will speak to the outcome of Saturday’s meeting and highlight the next steps for the campaign. What will Wolfson say about taking things all the way to Denver?

Also on the program, David Bonior, the former Michigan congressman and Obama surrogate, will present his candidate’s case. Later, host Chris Wallace will convene a panel with Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard, Nina Easton of Fortune magazine, Byron York of National Review and Juan Williams of National Public Radio.

CBS’s "Face the Nation" features Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Clinton supporter, and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, national co-chairwoman of the Obama campaign, going head to head. Could make for interesting television — especially because one never knows what Rendell could say.

On CNN’s "Late Edition," what else? More Clinton and Obama types: First Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, an Obama supporter, followed by Florida Sen. Bill Nelson, a Clinton supporter.

On Bloomberg’s "Political Capital," host Al Hunt interviews Ralph Reed, the Republican strategist and former director of the Christian Coalition.

Finally, if you needed a break from election coverage altogether, C-SPAN’s "Newsmakers" brings you Richard Syron, the chairman and CEO of Freddie Mac. He’ll be interviewed by Alan Zibel of The Associated Press and Benton Ives of Congressional Quarterly.

Happy viewing.

1. So many of the same people every week.
There are a few different faces this week. But where in the world is Pat Buchanan ? Do you get tired of this people shuffle ? I might watch Ralph Reed , just to see what he is spewing.
