Japan man discovers woman living in his closet
http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSCOO06330120080530
TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese man who was mystified when food kept disappearing from his kitchen, set up a hidden camera and found an unknown woman living secretly in his closet, Japanese media said Friday.

The 57-year-old unemployed man of Fukuoka in southern Japan called police Wednesday when the camera sent pictures to his mobile phone of an intruder in his home while he was out on Wednesday, the Asahi newspaper said on its Website.

Officers rushed to the house and found a 58-year-old unemployed woman hiding in an unused closet, where she had secreted a mattress and plastic drink bottles, the Asahi said. Police suspect she may have been there for several months, the paper said.

"I didn't have anywhere to live," the Nikkan Sports tabloid quoted the woman as telling police.

Living is way more irregular out in the Japanese boonies.

14. Has anyone seen the movie 'the grudge'?
The only thing is missing is that the woman isn't an evil undead spirit on a killing rampage... everything else is perfect.

15. Some of those older houses in Japan are pretty big
and they can have large sliding door closets.

True story: When I was a student over there in the 1970s, my landlady decided to rebuild her house. (She managed the apartments; her husband was "tanshin funin," transferred to another city by himself, although he came back occasionally.)

She and her 24-year-old daughter moved into one of the vacant apartments, all of which had identical floorplans, a 6-mat (approximately 9' x 12') main room, a little room with a toilet and a sink, a kitchen, and a sliding door closet that was the same size as the kitchen.

I went to pay my rent in person during this time, and the husband happened to be visiting.

I marveled at the way they were all living together in one room.

No problem, they assured me. The daughter slept in the closet.

16. Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode
in which Kramer stuffed some visiting Japanese tourists into a chest of drawers for the night.
