Fareed Zakaria has new program on CNN called GPS
Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 12:05 PM by eleny
On after Wolf's Late Edition, starting today.

Feith and Amanpour are among the panel. She actually went after Feith right away when asked if the world wants Obama to be president. She said something about how the world hopes an Obama administration will sort out the havoc the Bush administration, with people like Feith, has wrought.

Edited on Sun Jun-01-08 12:14 PM by eleny
Ambassadors to the UN from China and Ireland or is he Great Britain's ambassador? Help! I've been fiddling in an art program and missed their names.

Edit: Okay - One is a Chinese scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

with a true world view again.

25. Please stop making it an "America" issue...It's about rejecting Bush and his supporters
First, Amanpour is right putting this on Republicans and Bush. When Dems make the "America will look better" argument it is opening up the wrong issue for debate. Don't nationalize our guilt, complicity, whatever it is you feel...

I like Zakaria. Don't always agree with his conclusions, but his analysis and the way he goes about looking at things, is so refreshing.

Zakaria ain't playing any games, here.

(in response to Gruden's mentioning that other countries have complex political systems, not simplistic like Bush portrays them).

I'm so looking forward to more of an education on international affairs. This is such a far cry from the 7 year drumbeat of "you're either with us or you're against us" and the mantra around not talking to enemies to actually just discussing the core issues.

24. this is really cool.
Feith seems out of his depth here. The more worldly on the panel are so great.

Amanpour is making a good point re: the Dali Lama here.

"inviting him would shut up all the critics".

27. Iran and IAEA - weapons capacity
Feith: the notion we're going to sweet talk the Iranians out of weapons is ridicuous.

Amanpour: No one is suggesting sweet talk - a package of punitive measures and incentives. Never just carrots, never just sticks.

47. Finally a Sunday panel discussion show worth watching
I caught the tail end of it. I forgot about it since CNN hasn't done a huge amount of advertising for it. I'll definitely set the DVR for it. An intelligent show about international affairs that doesn't involve gotchas, yelling, or idiotic personality issues but actually discusses real policy is something I've been hoping for.
