I thought Obama only sponsored one bill since he's been a senator? During Katrina alone it looked like he either sponsored, or co-sponsored at least a half dozen bills.

9. I'm curious to know what he did during the hurricaine that took place

August 29th 2005. The timeline is very impressive. But, it starts Sept.2. I know Al Gore chartered a plane and actually got some people out. I'm just curious if Obama waited 4 days or did something immediately. I know he didn't have Al Gore type money back then. But, I'd like to know is all.

16. He was probably in a state of shock and disgust

like most of the rest of the US. I called my local Red Cross chapter on August 30th (day after Katrina made landfall) and they told me they weren't accepting volunteers, that they had not been contacted by the national offices to mobilize volunteers.

By the next day, I couldn't get through on the phone and had to go to our local offices in person to sign up.

If the Red Cross didn't get its act together until August 31, Obama was waaaaaaaaay ahead of the curve issuing a statement just two days later on 9/2.
