Why does Mike Barnicle always criticize people's looks?

Just a few minutes ago, while the gang was discussing the GQ interview of Mark Penn, he insinuated how ugly and unfashionable Penn is, when he said "Why was Mark Penn in GQ?"

I detest Mark Penn, but insulting his looks is just petty and silly.

And I recall a focus group deal, four years ago, where Barnicle insulted the entire group of supposedly random Americans by saying that they resembled the "barroom scene" in Star Wars. He insulted, for sport, the looks of a random group of Americans! On national television!

Just how handsome does Barnicle think he is really? (That's him on the left.)

And why is this guy getting paid big dollars to give his stupid opinions, after he was fired from the Boston Globe, a decade ago, for plagiarizing George Carlin, and fabricating stories out of thin air?

If he was in any way talented, maybe I could understand it. But he's not, as far as I can tell, and I don't.
