A game of "What If"
What if Caesar Disgustus bombs Iran ..... or even just declares war ...... or doesn't and just orders an invasion.

In your view, what would Congress do?

1. Nothing. If he does it, it will mean he's got a lock against impeachment.
As if we didn't already know that...

The majority leaders have declared that doing anything meaningful is "off the table."

25. Yes, and "our" party is fighting him every step of the way.
How can people be so deluded that they believe that we can allowe a coup and mass murder to pass unchallenged, but as long as there's a Democrat in the White House, everything will be fine?

How many kinds of stupid are there?

i have no question at all about what they would do. Hell, a good half of them would actually be happy about it too

10. I'm not so sure about that! Certainly the Shrub supporters would,
but they are less than 23% last I heard. I honestly think sooo many people are sooo PO'D now, I don't see them or any majority of them supporting something like that. I understand Cheney is the one really pushing this, and HIS support is even WORSE than Shrub's! Neither of them have the support of the DOD or the Military leaders either. I just don't think he'll be able to do it.

He would have declared martial law by then.

  1. There would be some "incident"

  2. Martial Law declared as a result

  3. Then he bombs them

  4. We're all fu**ed.

edited for typo

20. Just wondering.
What if he declared martial law, how would he enforce it? Most of US troop, including National Guard, are in Iraq and Afghanistan, so who would he use as his forces? There are not enough police to handle everyone, and..... While some people would accept it there are some that might not. Would he use private security forces, Black Water types? Just curious, so someone tell me what if?

21. All of those you listed, plus
there are enough Fundies who would immediately sign on. Just need to play the "fanatic religion" card & they are ready to take up arms. Doesn't matter if it's "logical" or not. They are easily "lathered up"; at least the ones around my area are.

23. You mean like the Minutemen border watchers?
I had forgot about those groups. You know I wrote a book about just such a thing happening some years ago, and no I have never published anything. they can play the religion card, the race card, and the us against them card and they would have quite an army at their disposal.

22. You've got a point. The scary thing though, is that many people
are extremely subservient. They follow the rules (unlike those damned illegal immigrants :sarcasm:). They do as they are told. So far, it has worked, and kept them in food and clothing and shelter and TVs and cars.

* could be wrong, and enough of the cops and the people might not go along with it. In fact, there probably aren't enough cops. They'd have to sign up some segment of the populace. About 23% would be eager to spend some time off Free Republic to get a gun and the authority to shove those libruls around.

But they could be banking on the combination of passivity and subservience that has been built into the culture and the number of potential bullies out there who would surely be willing to play Gestapo.

24. Of course you are absolutely right
I cannot get over how submissive our society has become. I have said for the last seven years that I can now understand how Germans stood by and let Hitler do what he did, because this country has done the same thing. bush may not be the same as Hitler, but he was done plenty and we have done nothing to stop him.

And there are plenty of those bullies out there that would love to push some old folks around if they didn't do like they were told. Around here the older people would be the biggest part of the dissenters, and the younger men (especially the frat boys and some red necks) would be the bullies. I expected hatred from some of the people that I considered 'red necks' (country, small town racist) but was surprised at the all out angry hatred that came from many of the rich preppy frat guys. I guess it is because bush is one of them.
