"...If I have a chance to invade..."
This quote was made before 2000. What was he thinking?
=============================

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-cesca/sorry-mr-president-but-yo_b_106596.html

<snip>
"One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief... My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it...If I have a chance to invade...if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency."

1. "I'm going to have a successful presidency."
If by "success" he means "total clusterfuck" he was spot-on.

Funny how he is all gung-ho about invading...except when it was *his* turn.

4. By "success", he meant...
He thought an invasion and war would be the way to success as a President.

5. That, to me, was the most egregious statement anyone could have made
Bush had said that to be considered a great presidency, the president would have to oversee some great disaster or war, like Roosevelt or Lincoln. When Bush said "If I have a chance to invade," it showed how much he wanted, how much he was looking forward to being in a war.

Starting a war of aggression is the ultimate crime against humanity.

7. It shows he was thinking of invading Iraq even then..
A long time before 9/11. If 9/11 had not happened, he would have found another excuse.

if by happenstance, one means LIHOP or MIHOP, that is.

6. Well, there you go -- a clear case of a confident, visionary soul bringing

the future into the seeable present.

You can't argue that the Bush administration was a tremendous success, and on a variety of levels to boot.

People love this guy. They wanted him in there in the first place because he was the sort of friendly Joe you could have a beer with and his jokes were timely, well-delivered, knee-slappingly hilarious, and universally acknowledged. His mocking of Karla Fay Tucker, in particular, had this household gasping for breath with sustained laughter.

Plus, he beat that dreary Al Gore and John Kerry, who probably don't even DRINK beer, and besides, they were a couple of hyper-intellectual smarty-pants snoots. Gore was one of those tree-hugger types and Kerry lied about getting all those medals. You wouldn't want people like that in the White House. FOX News was all over those tow from the git-go.

So thank Jesus we got Dubya instead, and of course hind sight is 20-20, but the smashing triumphs in Iraq and Afghanistan say it all: If you've got the power, flaunt it, and if you get the chance to invade and bomb the piss out of a sovereign nation, do it, do it soon, and do it strong, and the world will thank you.

13. The Bush admin is not a failure
It's a near total success. Why are modern leftists so naive?

He set out with his elitist buddies to do a smash-and-grab on America, while distracting a sufficiently big block of voters with talk of family and Christian values. He SUCCEEDED at this.

His only failure will have been poor management of public perceptions of his competence in the last few years, possibly leading to a greater chance of a Democratic victory in 2008. But really--he got elected twice, the second time after he had begun most of his worst stuff, so I don't think he could have asked for much more.

14. What was he thinking?
"In about 24 months, on a crisp September Morning, I'm gonna get all the Captial I'll ever need."

That about sums it up.

I can say for myself however, that I always was one of the 10% who never bought the lie. :)

18. I think that is what so many people do not understand.
So many of us constantly lament on the "incompetence" of this Administration.

What they fail to understand is that it is not "Incompetence."

It's DESIGN.

Bush was the perfect puppet to help them with their agenda.

And they have accomplished most of it.

And in 7 months, unless something is done, they are going to walk away, SCOTT FREE.
