1. The bit about the Enron loophole was a taste of what could be on the way.
When we get out of this political cycle, we could have some fantastic investigative material again on TV.

It would be so cool to see real reporting again.

3. That was fucking brilliant - I'm now trying to find some kind of
"executive summary" of that work, so I'm totally loaded for bear when I have to vanquish Freepers on other sites.

They're constantly crying about the big bad libruls doing everything they can to prevent Americans from their God-given right to cheap gas!

4. I agree
The rainbow was quite a coincidence. KO was even taken with the timing.

5. Anybody here remember the sky display when Reagan was inaugarated?
It really looked as if God himself had opened a hole in the clouds just to shine a beam of light on Ronnie's died hair.

Sometimes I wonder whose side God is on.

6. why was his funeral even on television?
it was absurd media navel gazing going into its 5th day, describing how brilliant the media is, thanks to people like the sinless St. Russert.

7. The way KO handled it TODAY, if that was the way
it was handled, I'd have no issue with it

Be grateful though, you are not a poor intel officer for either friendly or unfriendly nation, having to go through this gag fest

8. well they are replaying his funeral yet again on MSNBC as we speak
and they had more than 24 hours of continous coverage after he died. It was just nutty. I guarantee you President Carter won't get that kind of coverage when he passes.

13. it is absolutely insane
they have never done this with any other reporter, newscaster, whatever, and it is inappropriate to carry on like this publicly, now.

17. It was aired on MSNBC per the family's request...
They wanted to share the service with those who admired Russert via a venue they felt to be an appropriate way to salute his TV career. NBC agreed to their request.

10. I don't know what just happened
on KO (Keith Olberman) OR russert's funeral (I heard thru the 'innertubes' that it was going to be a "nationally broadcast 'private' affair ~ still trying to figure THAT one out  ).....

.....but whatever happened today, by reading y'alls comments ..... sounds totally bizarre.

Maybe I don't even want to know. (There's a reason I don't have teevee.....today sounds like vindication for holding that position).

11. It was beautiful.
Too bad you missed it.

And even though it was by invitation only, his family wanted it on MSNBC. That's how it was "private" yet shown on TV.

You want to pass judgment? Go ahead. Everyone else has. One more opinion from someone who has no clue won't make a difference.

or makes me feel :scared:

whoa.

Since you tell me "I'm clueless"....I'll buy a clue for $100.

Please tell me/clue me in on 'what made it so beautiful' for you (or why I should feel the 'beauty'?).....heh, he was just another MSM foot-soldier to me.

14. You could really tell how much Tim Russert was loved by his colleagues from KO's presentation
I have had my issues with Russert during his career, but that is over now that he is dead. He was genuinely loved by an awful lot of people, and that speaks volumes about this man whom none of us at DU ever knew personally.

We should all hope to live our lives so well that others will pour out this kind of affection for us when we pass on.

One of the saddest things of all that has happened to DU is the way that so many of us have taken a page from the right-wingers by demonizing public figures with whom we disagree. Those who do so too often will end up becoming what they hate.

15. Sorry......I feel more sorry for the piggys that died on Mr. Lanz's farm
in Iowa. (not so sorry for Mr. Lanz who didn't move into action, but that's another discussion.....)

You, nor anyone else, is going to "guilt" me into feeling things that I possibly cannot/do not feel.
