One Simple Question
http://www.thenation.com/blogs/edcut/329713
It started with one simple question posed by Senator Bernie Sanders to his constituents in an invitation to a town meeting: what does the decline of the middle class mean to you personally?

Over 700 people replied.

A second question was asked in his e-newsletter, The Bernie Buzz: do you have a story to tell about how gas prices are affecting you?

Over 1200 responses...

1. Thank you for this....
This confirms that I'm not alone in my thinking...lol. Sadly.

I don't know why I didn't just start a blog, but on Sunday - as a means of venting, and upon a few angry friends' insistence - I started a website. These people are the audience for this website and, as I see it, a movement.

www.downscaleamericans.org

I'm not a techie, but I need to get a forum going as enough interest has been expressed. I have no delusions of grandeur that this is going to solve anything. I simply want the average American citizen to feel empowered, even in some small way. The apathy and complacency that has taken hold is frightening...people are simply trying to get through life on a day-to-day basis. Certainly there are people in this country who live in tragic conditions of homelessness and starvation. There are critical needs. My hope is to engage people who aren't normally engaged (and who certainly wouldn't come to a political site...lol), and it will have a trickle-down effect of helping one another. Feel connected and not so damn isolated.

Thanks for the post.
