House, Bush reach deal on war supplemental
By Mike Soraghan
Posted: 06/18/08 08:05 PM

The House will vote on an emergency supplemental spending bill Thursday after Republican and Democratic leaders struck a deal with the White House late Wednesday, aides said.

The deal did not include the Senate, but House leaders were to present the deal to Senate leaders later Thursday night, aides said.

The compromise bill will include about $165 billion in funding for the Iraq war with no conditions, such as banning torture or blocking a “status of forces agreement” between the Bush administration and the Iraqi government.

It will include a new program, called the “new GI Bill,” to pay the college tuition of Iraq and Afghan war veterans, which will be transferable to family members. The cost of the program will be added to the federal deficit, because there will be no offsetting tax increase.

3. How can they call this a deal? This is fucking bullshit
this is called giving in, not striking a deal. If they struck a deal they would have gotten something in return. I am really sick of this shit.

4. Where's the picture of Nancy Pelosi laying on the ground outside
the Oval Office so Bush can wipe the dog shit off his shoes?

And the picture of Harry Reid bending over for Dick Cheney?

This is no compromise, this is giving in. Reid and Pelosi are giving a known, admitted criminal exactly what he wants. In the face of the fact the war in Iraq is based on lies, and that billions in contracts has been wasted, they just throw more money onto the fire.

Reid and Pelosi MUST BE REPLACED. They are not doing the work of the people, they are doing George Bush's work.

9. Blocking war funding is considered radioactive. It's an election year.

If you want a change, take back the White House.

10. Just like last year, they removed the Iran language and any
time table for withdrawing troops, but they left the benchmark in place to pressure the Iraq government on the hydrocarbon law.

16. And if the Democrats win the White House and increase their majorities in Congress
they'll spend the 2-4 years after that "playing it safe" so they can keep their majorities and the White House.

Until we start electing politicians who care more about the country than their next election, we are screwed no matter who is in charge.
