I now believe there truly is an energy crisis
I saw lines at the gas stations for the first time since the late 70's.

It must mean only one thing, that there is a shortage of gas. RIGHT!

LOL

NO, It wasn't supply problem...
Gas yesterday was $4.09 at these two stations yesterday...

Today it was a mere $3.76/gallon, what a bargain.

But I guess the prices should come down as the Independence Holiday weekend in now over and they can wait until Labor Day to spike the prices again.

1. Except that prices stayed the same over the 4th.
The big spike, at least in my area, happened back in late May, early June when prices went up over 50 cents a gallon in the space of a few weeks.

Maybe the oil companies heard about all the electric cars, etc. in development, and got scared. Can't have people weaning themselves off gasoline, now can we? So they adjust the price to a level that consumers can JUST BARELY tolerate.

2. Here the price was $3.99 for all of June, jumped to $4.09/$4.11
Last week ahead of the 4th.

I paid as much as $4.19 traveling on the 5th.

4. Same here. Then again, I live in the SF Bay Area, where everything's more expensive.
$4.49 has been the CHEAP price for the past month or so - a lot of stations range from $4.55-$4.65, although we're seeing a (very) small drop now.

I always get a little pissed off when talk about the "nationwide price" for gas, since the price in my area is bound to be 40-50 cents higher.

That should give you an idea how expensive they expect gas to get.

6. There have been a bunch of gas stations..
that have gone out of business. I didn't realize how many there were concentrated in some areas.
