nt. Newsday claims she was pulled from Iraq after her "US news sucks" comments on Jon Stewart, but how much sense does it make to pull your only Iraq correspondent in the middle of what's going on right now? I mean, is that stupid or what? Sorry if this has already been discussed here. On a side note, she has apparently been involved in some personal hanky-panky stuff, and she is expecting a child in January, Newsday claims. But I doubt that has anything to do with her career moves at CBS.

1. They don't want us to know what's actually going on in Iraq
Haven't you heard? Ignorance is bliss. :sarcasm:

2. Lara Logan is being 'Rathered' out of the corpmedia. Is there any DUer left who thinks corpmedia
is NOT complicit with BushInc's fascist agenda? Has anyone seen the accomodations that Dubai has set up for news organizations?

10. Sounds a bit like Ashleigh Banfield, a speech at Kansas State U and her anchor job at MSNBC
She spoke out about the Iraq invasion. Immediately, she lost almost all face time on the network. She sat at her desk. Her contract expired. It was not renewed.

16. It has been like this since the mid90s, and 9-11 gave them cover to drop the mask of impartiality
they used to wear.

It is NOT us, it is NOT most Dem lawmakers, it is NOT the internet and the left voices left in the media, it's not that ALL of us are ineffective......it's that we are not ALLOWED to be heard in any consistent way. WE are not allowed the platform and mics to create a wall of noise about an issue the way the fascists can and do.

6. Pulled from Iraq? Are you sure?
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 03:19 PM by high density
They just gave her a promotion to "chief foreign affairs correspondent" last month. I suspect even if she is based in Washington she will still make trips to Iraq. Iraq probably isn't a good place for a pregnant woman anyway.

7. according to this story
http://www.newsday.com/services/newspaper/printedition/wednesday/news/ny-etlara095757200jul09,0,6961553.story

>>A well-regarded reporter with a high story count during her four years in Iraq and Afghanistan, Logan's recent weeks stateside have been almost operatic. Besides yesterday's revelation, she was also pointedly critical of CBS' diminished appetite for war news during a Jon Stewart interview. She was shifted stateside in the immediate wake of that encounter - interpreted by some as network retribution - and then landed on the front page of the National Enquirer within hours of the new job announcement.<<

8. She had already left Iraq by the time she appeared on The Daily Show.

"Since 9/11, I've spent 95 percent of my time on the road, and I do need to have a home at some point. I do need to settle down. I've been living like a refugee."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/07/AR2008070702662_pf.html

And she probably doesn't want to have and raise a baby while in the field in Iraq?

9. Obviously, Stewart doesn't tape in Baghdad, but
the story I linked to indicates that she was permanently shifted only AFTER the Stewart piece aired.

11. she left Bagdad in April.
I'm afraid I didn't see a link in your original post, it must have been in a followup that I missed. But per the story I read yesterday and linked to above:

"Logan became pregnant shortly before leaving Baghdad in April, although she did not know it at the time, and flew to New York to sign a new contract that would compensate her for her expanded responsibilities in Washington. Logan had spent the previous two months involved in negotiations that freed a kidnapped CBS videographer, Richard Butler, and says she felt that Iraq had become too dangerous for her. But she still hopes to report from there in the future. "

12. "INTERPRETED BY SOME"
That's what Fox News says all the time. It's gossip pure and simple. Then the next line says the National freaking Enquirer ran a story on her? Was it next to the alien stepsister story?

I mean come on it's Newsday and the National Enquirer. I'd consider the sources and wait and see what she does next. One thing for sure she'll find a way to tell her story if she is getting shafted.

13. The Enquirer story was probably something about
her being romantically involved with a married man. From the post above yours, it looks like being sent stateside was a mutual decision, so Newsday got that wrong.

15. Here's a link to the NatEnquirer story...
Typical NE trash.

http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/65056?cid=RSS

which I found on a Huffpo article

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/25/lara-logan-sex-scandal-cb_n_109271.html

which if you read the comments they got blasted for for spreading gossip and rumors.

Just FYI
