Wow! I didn't know there were so many fricken experts on DU.
I visit this site daily. Probably spend 6 hours a day on DU actually.
I learn a lot and feel I'm kept up to date on what's shaking around the world.
But lately I'm seeing so many experts saying "final straw" this and "not voting Dem" that, because they disagree with a voted in representative.
I wonder how it is these DU experts get the access to all the facts our representatives have.
I wonder if they can do a better job why don't they put their voice/opinion into action and run for public office.
Do I agree with everything Obama has done or the way he has voted? No.
Do I really think I see the bigger picture better than he does? No.
Stop crying.
Stop whining.
Get a hold of your ego and accept the fact that yes, you do have a voice, but it's your voice. You speak for you.
Can't you express your opinion or ideas without the dramatics?
Getting a Dem into a political office is a hundred times more important than your differing opinion on a specific issue.
The damn repuks are so much better at sticking together.
I wonder how much further ahead of the game Dems would be if we could just keep our eye on the bigger picture.

1. Donnie McClurkin, faith-based charities, FISA . . .
Sorry if complaining about these Obama issues is "whining" to you. Of course I am voting for Obama, I just don't think he is the big "hope and change" candidate that was sold to us. Thank you.

so McCain's losing is obviously a very important issue here.

3. Yes, we'll just sit down and take losing our rights.
We're so stupid to complain upon such non issues. I enjoy staying bent over myself. Me and my children don't need no stinking rights.

if most of the outrage wasn't repeating someone else's opinion. That is not a good basis for such a fundamental switch.

6. Lots of people here are experts on fricken (ie., frigging) and little else
You make a number of fine points. It's a shame that such a vocal subset of DU rushes to condemn every action by Obama that doesn't daily fulfill every long-suppressed dream of The Left.

8. I tend to agree with your post, and I'm voting for Obama. Having said that,
let me ask:

What is the bigger picture, as you see it? I voted Democratic in '06 in the hopes that a Democratically controlled Congress would actually stand up to Bush. Today's vote shows me that my hopes were misplaced.

What is the point in putting Democrats in charge if nothing changes? How in the hell can any Democrat vote for a blatant unconstitutional act such as the one that passed the Senate today? Some of us are being criticized for criticizing Obama's vote. But, aren't we supposed to be true to our pinciples, even when our leaders aren't?

You mean like the "facts" they had when they voted for the IWR?

Jesus Fucking Christ. Your blind faith in our "representatives" is disturbing. Most of the time they don't even read the fucking bills they're voting on.

19. Point Is/Was, Yes, as Dems we have high expectations.
Yes, we have the right and responsibility to express ourselves.
Yes, I was happy about taking control of congress but I am not happy about the inaction of our reps.
Yes, I have expressed these opinions to my rep.
Does anyone really think it was a waste of time to vote Dem because of their inactions?
Surely things would be even worse if we didn't take back the congress.

Was just hoping to hear less, threatening to leave the Dem party or not vote Dem because of the apparent inaction of those we put into office last election.

20. You can - that's what the ignore and hide thread features are for
If the opinions of others really annoy you, you can make them go away. And it can be good to do that sometimes if you need to. I recently cleared out my ignore list but it used to be quite long because I needed it at that point in time.

Plus if you just put people on ignore or hide threads, you don't get the blowback from being perceived as trying to tell others what to think.

30. I have internets degrees in the following fields...
...a GED in law

I am a 50-degree black belt in every known martial art

I have heat vision and x-ray vision

I am a veteran of World War 2 and am proudly currently serving my 8th tour in Iraq

I am a pastor/reverend/scholar in all religions and an expert on global warming and evolution and I.D.

I have never been defeated in an internets debate due to my block/ban/ignore-fu!

Women love me, men want to be me and I have several kids that I know of and so many more that I'm sure I don't know about (hello!)

On the internets, I am everything you have ever dreamed of being.

Thank you.
