Is that why McCain wants to make them permanent?

2. The whole taxation debate needs to be reframed.
When taxation was first promoted, it was as taxation on assets, not labour. It was meant to fall most heavily on the assets that didn't promote productivity, and a way to preserve the commons.

It is time to go back to that model.

5. The economy is not screwed up for the wealthy. In fact
the wealthy are doing quite nicely.

6. I find it amusing that he's trying to push a proven FAILURE of policy as
the way to save us. Sure, why not? They have to finish what Bush started, the complete meltdown of our
country...

7. Actually, we have tried 27 years of uninterrupted tax cuts for the wealthy.
This started with Reagan. Bush I and Clinton raised rates ever so slightly, but nowhere near where they were before Reagan.

The marginal tax rate on the highest tax bracket in Kennedy's time was over 70%. It's been in the 30s since Reagan.
