Rachel Maddow's transformation... or: I take back what I said about her mole...
Edited on Fri Jul-18-08 01:57 PM by ReverendDeuce
In a post a few days ago I said that before Rachel Maddow gets her own show, she needs to get rid of her mole because it's distracting to me and my girlfriend. It was painful during Olbermann's off period last week...

I did some Googlage...

I take it all back...

She's come a LONG WAY! Good for her! I am glad she's taking care of herself. The mole can stay and I will not complain any longer!

Transformation Step 1:

Transformation Step 2:

Transformation Step 3:

Transformation Step 4?

We've yet to see this fourth stage. Presumably we will once she has her own show. I will update this thread accordingly.

Someone was accused of "homophobia" here because they posted a pic of Rachel next to Wesley Crusher (from Star Trek).
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4994344

With the hair just right, I can see the resemblance. They have similar cheekbones.

And it's not "homophobic" to point out that one person resembles another.

Rachel has definitely come a long way. I had never seen those "before" pics, and am only familiar with her through her appearances on Countdown.

Having said that, I wish I was a lesbian.

You couldn't stand to look at her with the mole, but at least she's not as ugly as she used to be?

Something like that?

19. You implied that I said her older look was ugly, not her current one...
I said the mole was painful and distracting to watch.

That's FAR from saying she is or was ever ugly.

From the start, I said that all she needs to do to really hit it out of the park was to lose the mole on her neck. It's a health concern! Skin cancer is not good, look at what it's done to John McCain.

Edited on Sat Jul-19-08 10:09 AM by lwfern
reminds me of a summation I tried to make a few months ago of men and women on another forum talking about their frustrations in life. Obviously everyone has issues with neighbors, or gas prices, all that. But when it came to what they revealed about their gender, their complaints ran mainly like this:

"Holy mother of god, I can't believe life is so unfair, having to deal with sexual assaults and being a single mom trying to support a kid after the deadbeat pro-life dad wouldn't pay anything."

"Holy Christ, I can't believe life is so unfair, I actually had to cast my eyes upon a woman who didn't meet porn standard today."

Edited on Fri Jul-18-08 02:35 PM by ReverendDeuce
The first two photos are not good.

Rachel's hair is not styled right for those glasses.

My girlfriend has glasses that are thick framed like these, but her hair is done well so that it really works.

Rachel needs a pixie cut and she might be able to pull it off.

54. yes, i am considered handsome. by straight women & gay men.
and, for a straight guy, i put a lot of effort into grooming, clothing & shoes. and when i needed glasses (prior to LASEK), i put a lot of thought into how the frames worked with the shape of my face.

so thanks for your support.

making yourself attractive as possible is just plain good sense. and if you're on TV, its part of the job description. even Pat Buchanan wears makeup.

Now where are the ten year old pics of KO with the glasses and mustache that made him look like Groucho Marx? Or do we only get to nit-pick women?

Because seriously, you're suggesting that she get herself cut up because you don't like her mole and find it distracting somehow (meanwhile, I've got a ginormous tv, and I haven't even noticed that she has a mole.) She has a brain, and a look and personality of her own- she's not one of those interchangeable blonde newsreaders. I would suggest dealing, because I have every reason to expect you'll be seeing her on TV a lot more in the near future.

The good news is that Rachel won't be on an episode of "What Not to Wear". She don't need it no more. Shes totally made.

However, I bet Rachel would be able to tell Stacy and Clinton where to go!
And neither would know what hit them!

There's nothing wrong with looking your best, imo. I'm staggered at the transformation, though -- I don't know what persuaded her to make the change, but I'm glad she did because she is a beautiful woman. She doesn't have to do anything further -- a bit of androgyny is a good look on Rachel.

I can only speculate that the earlier pix were part of a phase of some duration, because I can't imagine even Keith Olbermann's blandishments would make this happen overnight.

Regardless, television being what it is -- i.e. visually-driven by above-average attractiveness -- this makeover is essential to her new career. I hope she's very happy with the look, because our household is very happy with her continued intelligent presence on the wasteland that is MSNBC.
