O'Donnell was on Countdown saying Libby case is over
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 09:11 PM by EstimatedProphet
Says nothing came out of it, there's nothing to talk about impeachment for, and it would be OK for Bush to pardon Libby.

On edit: for clarity, the Plame outing case is what he was referring to, not just Libby.

:wtf: Waddya think DU?

22. What do you think of "American Idol"?
Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 11:24 AM by rebel with a cause
And what about all that money won by that guy on "Deal or NO DEAl"? And did you see Jack make that guy scream on "24"?

I have TV on almost 24/7 due to me being stuck here staring at the walls, but these are three shows that I do not watch. I watch others that are just as worthless, I am sure, just not these three.

and possible investigations by Congress, but why let that ruin "Our Beautiful Minds". Life in the bubble must be sooo much more appealing.

5. It's more damaging to the Republicans in 2008 if Bush pardons
Scooooter, than if we impeach.

And with impeachment, there will be no trial in the Senate.

Allow them to continue stepping on their own private parts.

Let THEM continue to be the political circus until Jan 2009.

7. Plus, he claimed that the jury will lead the demand for a Pardon for poor 'Scooter'!
I was incredulous. They claimed that, according to reports in the last hour on MSNBC, the american public was beginning to support a presidental pardon for Libby. All this, and only 1 day later it's no big deal, and everyone wants a pardon? What planet am I living on?

24. That's not what I'm hearing them say.
They are replying to questions about the pardon that they would not have a strong objection, because they feel that others in the White House were wrongdoers.

26. From Hardball's website:
• Juror calls on Bush to pardon Libby
In an exclusive interview, a member of the jury that convicted I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby in the CIA leak case called Wednesday for President Bush to pardon Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff.

MATTHEWS: But you cry for this guy?

REDINGTON: Yes, it was awful.

MATTHEWS: And you want him pardoned?

REDINGTON: I don‘t want him to go to jail.

MATTHEWS: Thank you, dear. You are a very nice person.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17517888/

I agree that they think there are bigger fish to fry, but they are not stating that they "wouldn't object" to a pardon for Libby, they are calling for it. At least Ann is, and the other male juror I saw was asked about it and he deferred to Ann. Basically if Ann is for it, so is he.

32. No, she just said she did not want him to go to jail.
Lots of people have the same sentiment (because they think he's a nice guy, good hubby and father, yada yada), but that does not mean that she, and others, are "calling of a pardon".

That's bullshit journalism by MSNBC, but it's SOP for them. Anything for a headline.

33. From the same link:
MATTHEWS: Well, here is a question that is more human than political. Scooter Libby is eligible, as is any American who has been convicted of a crime, for a pardon from the president. Do you think he should get one?

REDINGTON: Whether or not he should get one, I don‘t know that I have a valid opinion. But I would like him to get one.

18. Agreed -- does not sound like Lawrence O'Donnell style analysis
on a related note, I read earlier a DU'er claiming that Chris Matthews was advocating that the President pardon Scooter Libby.

I watched the show on tape later myself and he said nothing of the sort. . .what he said, and I am paraphrasing:

IF the President is indeed going to pardon Libby, he should have the guts to do it now and FACE THE POLITICAL FALLOUT, rather than trying to sneak it in at the end of his term w no consequences.

So you just never know what DU'ers are going to come up with.

21. No, it's pretty accurately represented
Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 08:09 AM by EstimatedProphet
O'Donnell was really downplaying the verdict and was talking about a pardon for Libby, and he clearly stated that Fitz is saying everything is over.

I'm sorry you missed the show, but jumping to the conclusion that I am trying to be hysterical is unwarranted. Especially when the OP is confirmed by another post - see #7.

19. Larry only seemed to be progressive
in contrast to the hysterical rightwing ashwipes that have gripped the media and this country--but he is really very dlc. What really pissed me off was seeing David Bois (al gore's attorney in 2000) go on fox and support a pardon WTF is that????

And then the two jurors-denis and ann express like sentiments. I'm going to have to shoot my tv now.

Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 10:33 PM by Cerridwen
a hearing or investigation - I'll go find the link.

It would appear, Congress does not keep O'Donnell informed of their every move and O'Donnell returns the "favor".

One investigation may be inactive another may take its place which could cause the inactive to be re-activated.

I'll watch and wait with the rest of the crowd.

edit with link to thread posted by kpete Waxman to Fitz-"Were Any Federal Criminal Statutes Violated by White House Officials?"

Maybe O'Donnell needs to keep in touch with kpete?
