Alligator Attacks boy in Louisiana, tears off arm
It happened in Slidell, a suburb of New Orleans. The Gator was shot and the boys arm has been recovered.

Earlier this week an Alligator got on the interstate west of New Orleans and hosed up traffic. They are rather fiesty this summer.

1. How horrible. I hope the boy's arm can be reattached.
My ex-husband grew up in Slidell and spent many hours fishing and boating in the bayous in his pirogue and boating and fishing on Lake Ponchartrain. Gators are everywhere. There is no way that I would play near or swim in any pond down there or in any coastal area where gators live. Those animals sure can move fast when they go for prey. The boy is lucky to be alive.

:hi: Hi BOSS! I hope that all is well with you and Mrs. BOSSHOG. It's hot as hell here in Athens, AG today. Heat index of 100 and rain and thunderstorms are threatening. I'm staying inside in the AC until I have to go feed my horse (the "big pet" as opposed to the cat who is the "the small pet") this evening. Y'all stay cool and keep away from those gators!

2. I heard on the radio about 15 minutes ago
(1:00) that the first attempt to reattach the arm failed and right now he is on a ventilator. He's 11 years old. He reportedly was awake and talked to his mother last night. That sucker was 10 feet long. (The alligator, not the arm.) The lake was on the southside of I-10 near the Kingspoint neighborhood. Another Alligator got on I-10 west of the NOLA Airport tuesday and hosed up traffic for an hour. They are fiesty this year.

We are fine and dandy. We lost my wonderful Mother in Law in April but we are so happy to have had her. We are heading to the Quarter Saturday for Satchmofest. Lots of great Jazz Music and great food but we are going to have a sit down restaurant meal. The Mrs is getting a new car when the 09's come out. Most likely a Civic or anything that gets 35+ MPH. I'm still the lazy kept husband. We had a great tomato crop and I have a second planting in now which is doing pretty good. I'm already planning for next year, I think I'll try growing tomatillo's. Told the wife we'll have a Salsa garden. We've gotten rain every afternoon for a week. Lightning hit our next door neighbor's house last week and blew a hole in their garage. We got nary a scratch. You love that horse so I know it will get fed. You take care and stay cool.

3. Yum! Satchmofest and NOLA food! Eat some for me please!
A new car for your wife sounds sweet! I'm loving my Corolla station wagon that gets 35 MPG. I don't miss my Dodge truck (17 MPG at the best) at all. Your tomatoes sound yummy! There's two things money can't buy: true love and home grown tomatoes and y'all have both! A few weeks ago, lightning hit my god-daughter's apartment complex which is just across the street from my neighborhood. It caused an attic fire but luckily it didn't burn down any of the apartments. We're about to get a big storm here. I can see the sky darkening and the wind blowing the trees around as I type. Well, I'm off to an appointment. Y'all have a great day down there!

How's the oil spill going there? I read that there may be a new leak from the barge. Did much get out into the delta?

5. Thanks Uppity
For the life of me I cannot access nola.com. Traffic has resumed on the river but the effort to move the mostly sunken barge has resulted in it leaking some more. Last week there was an 80 mile oil slick on the river heading for the gulf.

6. I was reading and posting about the initial leak, hoping it got taken care of somewhat.
Reading about oiled birds and the issue of the oil getting shoved out into the delta. What a mess. Hope you have a quiet season there.
