Sure Obama is deserving of criticism but
some of us simply aren't going to focus on that now. Why? Because getting him elected is our priority. The alternative is McCain. You may find that acceptable but a hell of a lot of us, don't. You may think there's no difference between McCain and Obama; I see big and vital differences.

Obama isn't pefect, but between now and election day, I'll be defending him from bullshit repuke attacks and working to get him into the White House.

It's that simple.

3. We're Moving A Pendulm
As little as two years ago, the Democratic party was facing the possibility of being completely shut out...including a Veto-proof House and Senate (a chilling thought)...but it showed how deep a hole both the Democratic party and the many liberals and progressives had fallen. It wasn't until Dr. Dean and websites like this that we started to find a voice among ourselves...and for the most part it's been a very positive change...but a change that is measured.

The political pendulum had swung so far to the right...so corrupted by both the GOOP and the corporate media that anyone who was even a moderate Democrat was labeled as a "radical liberal" (Jack Murtha case in point)...this is the tide Kerry swam against in 2004. Thanks to the hubris and corruption of this regime and a new conduit of information...many saw how bad things had gotten and helped Democrats to the big off-year win in '06...but much of that election was fought locally, not nationally...thus why so many Blue Dogs were elected. Nonetheless, the pendulum stopped sticking to the right...and now is slowly working its way back to center.

This election is to reach that center...to put an end to repugnican abuse and discredit their corrupt party so that it will take several years for them to "rebrand". The change is sure to make a positive difference. The oil companies will no longer occupy the OVP, Muck-asey and his patronage toadies will be gone from the DOJ...across the board there will be a big change in how government is structured...and then comes the real opportunities.

The idea is more Democrats, better Democrats. Being in the majority means a more progressive agenda can be developed and stand a far better chance of a fair hearing with Democrats in firm control and our role will be to support those who fight the good fight and work in '10 to elect more Progressives...and hopefully bringing the rest of the country along with us.

4. Characterizations are cheap
I see NO ONE on DU saying there is no difference or that McCain is acceptable. If you can not cope with a fully nuanced view of a candidate, and feel you must embody the pep squad, more power to you, every team needs the cheer leaders! But to expect others to behave as you do is a bit much. I've seen many campaigns cheered all the way to defeat, so shouting 'Gobama' is not really a path to victory. Perhaps it is your part to play, and you should feel proud of that, but others will not be moved to live life as you wish them to. Do your own thing and be happy and proud of that.
If people actually say what you CLAIM they said, offer objections and arguments. If it actually occurs on DU, alert and report. It is againt the rules to say McCain is acceptable, although many Obama backers here constantly promote Republicans for veep, we are supposed to support Democrats over Republicans here, and that means what it means. Anyone who is not breaking the rules of the
I for one do not accept that your method of drooling and cheering is the way to win. Your style is in fact the path to McGoverndom, Stevensonville, and Gore City. But it is your style. Thank God however that many have a more mature outlook and this cycle we may not fall to the 'everything's perfect' delusionists.
It's that simple.
