More "deviate sexual intercourse" from the GOP

"The same day the media went nuts over John Edwards, a Missouri Republican was indicted for “deviate sexual intercourse" with the 14-year-old daughter of his mistress. If you were watching the Corporate Media, you missed it."
http://www.therandirhodesshow.com/

JEFFERSON CITY -- Missouri state Rep. Scott Muschany, R-Frontenac, was indicted today in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended.

The alleged victim is the daughter of a state employee. The girl’s mother and Muschany -– who is married and has two children -- were romantically involved, the woman said.

A Cole County grand jury returned an indictment today charging Muschany with the Class C felony of "deviate sexual assault." The indictment identifies the victim only by initials. It says that on May 17, Muschany "had deviate sexual intercourse" with the girl, "knowing that he did so without" her consent.

Muschany, 42, was booked into the Cole County Jail today at 2:50 and he was released after posting a $5,000 bond. If convicted, Muschany faces a fine of up to $5,000 and a prison term of up to 7 years.

2. Maybe it is because deviant sex from members of the GOP is now expected
that their acts no longer warrant the media's attention?

17. "....without her consent"?????
She was 14, not old enough to legally consent to sex with anyone.

Tell me they are trying to find an excuse for this shit.

5. Appallling. However, John Edwards is a national figure, prominent dem
ex-VP nominee, ex-presidential candidate and former U.S. Senator. Muschaney is an obscure state senator. Thus the difference in national coverage.

7. IOKIYAR...As Always
In fairness, this dude is a small fry...your "garden variety" GOOP deviate. We've had so many of these goons caught in recent years, most of us just shrug our shoulders these days and say "well, there's another one".

Unless there's a dead girl or live boy, the corporate media avoids GOOP scandals as it still plays with the "conventional wisdom" that the GOOP is still the party of "family values" and these "lone wolves" are a "few bad apples". Of course that standard doesn't apply to Democrats thank to the "conventional wisdom" that since many of us stand for sexual equality and openess, that we're "loose" and thus when a Democrat gets his privates caught in the ringer, this becomes a "morality" play.

Fortunately the Edwards story appears to be fading...except here on DU...but this, too shall pass.

8. He also supported the death penalty for child rapists.... link to article
State Rep. Scott Muschany, a Republican lawmaker from suburban St. Louis who was indicted Wednesday for having "deviate sexual intercourse" with a 14-year-old girl, was among 28 Missouri lawmakers who pushed for the death penalty for child rapists.

In March, Muschany signed on to a U.S. Supreme Court brief filed by Gov. Matt Blunt urging the high court to clarify whether the Eighth Amendment prohibits the death penalty for child rapists.

Blunt urged lawmakers in his January State of the State address to pass legislation allowing the death penalty to be applied to child rapists.

.........

Courtesy of an old posting on the Kansas City Star's Prime Buzz blog, here's a PDF file of the legal brief Muschany signed.

9. Isn't it supposed to be "deviant"?
I guess not. The corruption found its way into the lexicon in 1929, according to Webster.

15. Get a load of this abortion "consent" bill that Muschany co-sponsored
This bill changes the laws regarding the consent requirements for obtaining an abortion. Abortions cannot be performed or induced without the voluntary, informed, and uncoerced consent of the woman at least 24 hours prior to the abortion. The physician performing or inducing the abortion must provide orally and in writing:

(1) The physician's name;

(2) Medically accurate information that describes the proposed abortion method, medical risks, alternatives to the abortion, and follow-up care information;

(3) The gestational age of the unborn child; and

(4) The anatomical and physiological characteristics of the unborn child.

The licensed physician performing or inducing the abortion must:

(1) Provide the pregnant woman with printed or video materials, from the Department of Health and Senior Services, that describes the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the unborn child's brain and heart functions, extremities, various methods of abortion, risks associated with each method, possibility of causing pain to the unborn child, alternatives to abortion, and that the father of an unborn child is liable to provide child support, even if he has offered to pay for an abortion. The materials must be available from the department by November 26, 2008, and must be legible, objective, unbiased, and scientifically accurate. All information provided to the pregnant woman must be given to her in a private room to ensure privacy, confidentiality, and no fear of coercion. If needed, an interpreter can be used. All information must be provided at least 24 hours before payment for an abortion can be accepted;

(2) Provide the woman with an opportunity to view an ultrasound and hear the heartbeat of the unborn child at a local health facility that offer these services free of charge;

(3) Explain that coercing a pregnant woman to get an abortion is illegal and she is free to withhold or withdraw her consent to the abortion anytime without fear of losing treatment and assistance benefits; and

(4) Prominently display statements encouraging a pregnant woman seeking an abortion to contact agencies that help women carry an unborn child to full term and that no one can coerce a person to have an abortion.

The woman must certify in writing on a checklist form provided by the department that she has received all of the required materials; had an opportunity to view an active ultrasound image of the unborn child and hear the heartbeat; and given her voluntary and informed consent, freely and without coercion, to the abortion procedure. No abortion will be performed or induced on an unborn child of 22 weeks gestational age or more unless the mother is given the opportunity to have a pain alleviating drug administered to the child. The physician must retain a copy of the form in the patient's medical record.

What a piece of work this guy is. If his mistresses' daughter got pregnant from the rape, would she have to go through all of this malarkey designed to scare her away from making medical decisions affecting her future? You betcha!
