1. To be fair, Bush's warning was probably very effective.

I mean, it's difficult to plan complex military maneuvers while simultaneously rolling around on the floor laughing. I doubt even the Russians could pull it off.

Good to see that the AP is still working hard earning its paycheck from the White House, though. They almost manage to make it look like Shrub is aware something's going on in Georgia.

3. NPR just had a brutal story about the "complete rout of the Georgian army" last night
In other words, the Russians are declaring peace now that there's nobody left to fight. As a bonus, they get to massage Bush's ego, though it's likely neo-con Saakashvali will be heading up the Department of Georgian Studies at the Heritage Foundation some time soon.

4. I'm assuming all the Georgians are dead or wounded?

5. No.
As the Russians advanced, the Georgian forces turned tail and ran. Part of the reason was the withering attacks by Russian "Frogfoot" Air to mud attack aircraft. Kind of like our A-10 Warthogs in function, they are a formidable weapons system. Attacking in numbers, they can be extremely effective in both direct combat effect and psychological effect.

Remember also: the Russian troops they sent in there are well-equipped, fresh and have high morale in these times. These factors can be considered force multipliers.
