1. My planned response
"Indeed, let's increase production so Exxon can send more oil to China."

To be followed by "What assurances to you have that they'll sell all the oil they develop here to the US?"

5. Definitely reply to all
They expect the other good arguments...like don't despoil the beaches and it won't make a big difference in the price of gas. They don't expect to have to defend the fact that the oil doesn't stay here.

3. Really? How much did the Republicans increase production and refinery capacity in the 6 years they
held the majority of both the Senate and the House?

6. Another one I'm planning to use
If drilling offshore or in ANWR is such a great idea, why didn't they do it in 2001 or even 2006? Maybe they knew that wouldn't make any difference, but it sure is a handy weapon to divert blame from themselves to the Dems.

4. maybe i don't know how to read this chart:
http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pnp_wiup_dcu_nus_w.htm

but it appears that our refineries are running at about 87% - 89% capacity...

i have a friend in the oil business who always says they are at near 100%...

one can probably assume some 'down time'...but 11%+ all the time?

there are currently 150 refineries listed by the eia in the u.s.a. which somehow enable us to EXPORT 1,544,000 barrels of petroleum products PER DAY (week of 8.01.08:

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_wkly_dc_NUS-Z00_mbblpd_w.htm

yeah...we need to drill, drill, drill...it's such a scam....
