Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 09:52 AM by Boojatta
Which military attack occurred first?

...

...

(Please don't provoke me to regret relying on the honor system for enforcement of the "no reference materials allowed" rule.)

1. You just posted this so someone would point out it was the Germans that bombed Pearl Harbor
Right?

2. When you use the words "Pearl Harbor", are you referring
to what the vulgar masses mean by that?

3. Everybody knows that in online tests you can use the book!
Actual letter from online classmember to teacher asking her to grade leniently: " that test was so hard. I had trouble even with my notes in one hand and the book on the other!"

4. Students who dip their noses into ink and write with their inky nose tips...
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 10:28 AM by Boojatta
are liable to run into at least one problem such as one of the following:

  • difficulty writing legibly
  • difficulty organizing the writing on the page
  • not being able to fit enough writing on each page to be appropriate given short-term memory capacity
  • irritation of the nose and/or respiratory system,
  • frequent disorienting movement far from the page to get perspective and then close to cross something out or finish writing something
  • etc.

One hand should be kept free to handle a pen or pencil.

8. Since one of those happened on my birthday, it's easy.
Even though it wasn't my birthday until exactly 2 years after it happened. (I guess I'm lucky my middle name isn't Barbarossa.)

Which happened first?

10. Western Democracies make compromise in Munich in hopes of keeping German aggression aimed East
After Munich the Soviets clearly saw that the West was trying to steer Hitler toward them, and used diplomacy to buy time and steer him back toward the West.

15. This little subdiscussion is becoming somewhat incoherent.
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 09:57 PM by Boojatta
For example, I didn't claim that "the West" handed Czechoslovakia over to Germany. Did you mean that "the West" failed to enter into a binding alliance with Czechoslovakia that would involve guaranteeing that "the West" would go to war to eject any invading army from Czechoslovakia?

Is "the West" guilty in your mind of "handing" East Germany and Hungary "over" to the man we know as Stalin (or U.J./Uncle Joe) and to other Stalinists from the end of WWII up to and including 1956?

17. This isn't a beauty contest between Stalin and Hitler.
Facts are always double-edged swords if not multi-edged swords. This is simply an exercise in refreshing memory of historical facts or learning historical facts. The people who get it wrong, but who do care about truth will gain the most, because they will learn the most and be likely to remember the lesson.
