2. I like Obama and hope he'll win
But I worry that he is making some serious mistakes. I'm not going to go into what those mistakes entail, but the polls speak for themselves.

12. Look, you and I know how evil and incompetent they are
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 06:19 PM by Taverner
But they own the voting machines, so anything other than a landslide won't get us in the White House.

They learned from 2006, so who knows what they'll do.

But I think they're going to steal it again, and they're going to do it in Pennsylvania.

I've been feeling like this for months. I wish I could shake these awful feelings, but ....................

8. I think the GOP would not dare stealing the elections this time around
but what is heartbreaking is that the polls are so close even after 7 years of incompetence. How can you explain that? For me this is so hard to swallow. I will still go vote but I am not hopeful.

Now people ya'll can SUIT ME!!!

13. Dare? These are bullies. They don't understand anything but brute force
They will dare whatever they want, and if it causes the whole planet to crumble into dust, then so be it.

21. They wouldn't dare?
Why wouldn't they? What price have they paid for stealing the last two?

That's right - NONE.

In fact, reality is that polls at this stage are worthless. You have no idea if the polling questions are intelligently drawn, how the polls are conducted, anything about them, which renders them essentially meaningless.

6. You're just being realistic. It is gonna be one hideously tough slog to eke out a victory.
I know the prevailing "wisdom" hereabouts is that BO will win in a landslide but that's the kind of overconfidence (which leads to apathy) that keeps us losing elections. If you had told me back in mid-2000 that GWChimp would be in the WH for 8 years I'd have said you were crazier than a shithouse rat.

15. Problem is we view it on rational means
We think that no one in their right mind would vote for an idiot like Bush.

And guess what, they aren't in their right mind. They're stupid, insane, and paranoid.

16. VP really doesn't matter
Sure, I think Clinton would help, because it would bring in those Clinton supporters who are planning to vote for McKinney (if they're predominantly Left Wing) or McCain (if they're predominantly Right Wing).

But anything other than that will not be a blip on the radar.

9. No reason to panic
The campaign does not start until after Labor Day. Why bring out the big guns before then? Considering the short attention span of most Americans and the fact that next to no one is really paying much attention now. McCain has so much dirt on him that Obama will have a new issue on him practically everyday, You use that ammo when you really need it. And just remember what he did to Hillary, and she's much smarter then McCain.

17. Hell, I'm still voting for him
I voted for Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Clinton, Nader (grrr...I still regret that vote with such a passion, I want to go back in time and kick my own ass), Kerry and I'll be voting for Obama. I really want him to win. He's beyond qualified, charismatic, and on our side.

But I see the GOP doing something to win this. They're desperate, and they just got a bump in the polls.

Yes, Americans are really that stupid.

Ohio Voting Machines Contained Programming Error That Dropped Votes

By Mary Pat Flaherty
A voting system used in 34 states contains a critical programming error that can cause votes to be dropped while being electronically transferred from memory cards to a central tallying point, the manufacturer acknowledges.

The problem was identified after complaints from Ohio elections officials following the March primary there, but the logic error that is the root of the problem has been part of the software for 10 years, said Chris Riggall, a spokesman for Premier Election Solutions, formerly known as Diebold.

The flawed software is on both touch screen and optical scan voting machines made by Premier and the problem with vote counts is most likely to affect larger jurisdictions that feed many memory cards to a central counting database rapidly.

Riggall said he was "confident" that elections officials through the years would have realized votes had been dropped when they crosschecked their tallies to certify final elections results and would have reloaded cards so as not to lose votes. Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has said no Ohio votes were lost because the nine Ohio counties that found the problem caught it before primary results were finalized.

McCain doesn't know how many homes he has.....

If they ride that one right, it will finally show people his idiocy and how out of touch he is. They can really make some good ads with this one.

27. this is a good thing. we should all be pessimistic that we will win this election...
the posts that scare me more are the "we've got this in the bag, no way america would vote republican this year..."

complacency can be a killer.

so be pessimistic, be very pessimistic.

talk more. volunteer more. donate more. do anything you can more.

make it a personal goal to make it happen.

34. watch the video of obama today
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 10:23 PM by CitizenPatriot
I don't know where he was, but man -- he rocked the house. I felt crummy today, too -- but after I saw that, I was literally weaping (as they say in FRville) with relief. He was amazing and the audience was on their feet chanting.

We can't think about the fraud except to do all in our power to overcome it -- petition for paper ballots (see under activism here- I've posted links to this or you can google it) sign up to video the election, and then.... know that if it happens, all hell is going to break lose.

Keep your video camera handy at all times and be ready to post things you see that lamestream media doesn't cover.

hang in there -- I know how you feel.

here's obama today

The campaign hasn't even started. No contest this year. It'll be like 1984 was for the Republicans.
