Letter to the editor: Reader connects the dots in news?

On Aug. 12, a horrible news story broke in our state. Two Berks County Mennonite breeders shot and killed 80 dogs in their kennel rather than get a veterinarian check ordered by the state dog warden.

Public Opinion printed the story online on Aug. 13, but did not run it in the paper.

Could it be that the reason for that was the Aug. 14 front page story about fresh produce from the Mennonite community?

Readers might have been able to connect the two stories: The Zimmerman brothers composted the 80 dogs they shot. The compost is used on their fields.

Fresh produce? No thanks.
