Yeah, the rain is still falling. Maybe 6 inches could fall overnight. but I think its safe to say that the major bullet was dodged when Gustav self-downgraded between Cuba and Louisiana.

1. You Can Say That Again
Just goes to show that we have a long way to go in developing accurate hurricane prediction models. I'm very happy that the predicted intensification didn't happen. Luckily Gus went over a cool water eddy in the gulf before making landfall and was never able to get it's eye completely aligned after running over Cuba.

2. I'll chime in on that.
I sure hope all are safe and as well as can be expected.

3. I'll give you that Stink....
Now we need to help them recover from Katrina.

The Repukes and the Dobson ilk won't be happy until 'Nawlins is wiped from the map.
You know, all that "gay shit" that goes on down there.

It's been a fun day, and I know my favorite clown has been watching too.

We watched 'Nawlins dodge one major bullet and the Republicans shoot themselves repeatedly by the hour.

It don't get any better than that!

:hi:

4. Best wishes to those who did suffer loss of property and life but glad NO dodged it
and that the hurricane came ashore as a level 2 and not the predicted level 4.

5. Whew!
I'm freakin' glad that thing blew over with out making the kind of mess Katrina did. I've made some smart ass comments about this messing up the Repub convention but I never would have wished anyone ill out of spite.

7. Man, you people in New Orleans worry me. I know you all
probably say "I wouldn't live in California; afraid of those earthquakes". I've been through several earthquakes and the devastation is nothing compared to what Katrina did. You guys got guts to live there. I'm so glad Gustav missed you, but I think there's another one just behind him.
