This will be good - the Conservatives will be ousted because of Obama's popularity kind of giving re-birth to being liberal. That and Tony Clement's been pissing everyone off.
Harper kinda fucked up because things were smooth and docile for a bit and he was staying in a favourable position. Then the cons got cocky, plus a couple scandals came out and now they are not looking good. As well, the cons have made enemies of the press. I know reporters that are licking their chops for the chance to hang up on the cons when they phone to follow up on a press release they've issued, myself being one of them, "Oh, how funny you're calling ME. A couple months ago when I called for a simple comment on something important you refused to speak with me.... now you need my help? CLICK."

Not ethical, but if it is not a newsworthy piece that is the response they'll get.
So, I'm confident we'll oust them.

1. This is my first election to sit through up here!
Should be fun and quite educational. Its a bit refreshing to think about people running for office that the media hasn't been drooling over for over a year in a half!

I guess over here on the West Coast, polls are showing the NDP surging ahead of the liberals. This may be good for the province.

6. See, I got a lot to learn, but a lot of time to do so.
And no, I'm over in Victoria for the time being, since I don't mind the old people so much. :)

4. why can't these assholes form a coalition?
Seems to me the NDP and the Liberals and even the Bloc could find enough to agree on to send Stephen Harper back to the tar sands.

11. I think it's time for a Liberal leadership convention
There were so many good choices at the last one, guys who could WIN an election against this megalomaniacal troglodyte, and we end up with...sigh.

15. Did you see the polls this morning?
Harper is within sight of a majority. Harper Lite has been bad enough. I shudder to think what his real plans are. You can be sure that he has some Rovian plan to engineer a Permanent CONservative Majority. Even after the clusterf..k of Bush/Cheney, Harper is still robbing their playbook. Gobama!!!

8. Whatever happens, the NDP will be the big loser.
Dion will fight as hard as possible to loot the NDP, especially in areas where they don't stand a chance.

10. the Liberals are BROKE
This whole election is about breaking them financially. That is the only reason to call an election if Harper really believes that it will be another minority government. I am not sure at all that this will be the case. I think he might squeak out a majority. Dion cannot afford to outspend anyone. The Tories want to get an election in before the bad news coming out starts to swell. And they can't afford to be investigated much more without giving the Liberals a platform. But Dion is such a totally ineffectual leader that he might not be able to win even if he had a sack full of goods.

13. did they?
I meant financially. I don't remember that Chretien or his party ever lacked in the fund raising department (until Martin got them investigated good). The election has been described as a way to get them even further into hock so that when the bad news about Harper's governance becomes unavoidably clear, they will be in no position to bring down the government. You need money for these challenges.
