willing to do anything, anything to get elected. Remember, how upset they got when Obama did not pick Hillary. Of course, they wanted her on the ticket but she was qualified, unlike Palin.

Mccain's base and party was completely demoralized, they saw Palin as a way to raise money which she has, millions and a way to energize their right wing and conservative base; which she has. As far as Hillary voters, they are not going to buy this and it is insulting that they would vote for a woman only because she is a woman. You would think McCain would know that. Maybe some of the PUMA's and other stragglers but not Hillary's base voters.

In other words, what is more important to them, our country or McCain winning an election.

I thought John McCain said he would rather lose an election than lose a war. Evidently that is not exactly true.

The VP choice is a candidate's first decision and it is of utmost importance as the VP is only a heartbeat away from the presidency and you have a 72 y/o man with cancer and god forbid, the possibility of her becoming president is very possible.

Barack puts country first, not elections.

2. McCain has the worst judgement ever
and can't manage his campaign for shit.
I will be amazed if he even makes it to Thursday.

There have to be a few smart Republican strategists
who are looking at this without koolaid tinted glasses
and are saying aloud... 'oh crap, McCain is going to take us all down'

3. I still believe the Palin choice was absolutely stupid.
The Republicans do not need to shore up their base. Their base is barely 25% of the electorate. They need to draw in swing voters - Palin won't do that. This was flat-out the dumbest thing imaginable...

5. Standard neocon hypocrisy
They're falling all over themselves praising Palin's daughter for "starting a family", i.e. getting caught and marrying the father. Personally, I can't see a shotgun wedding as a great way of starting into adulthood, but, I digress. Neocon policies are logical and factual failures and it doesn't matter to them. Move the goalposts and shout victory--anything to get elected.

Now, they care about New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, cutting the Monday schedule and taking donations for the Red Cross. No one is fooled--except the republicons. :eyes:
