Will McCain replace Palin with Ron Paul?
This was on my mind when I woke up this morning. Then I saw this article in my local paper:

Unaffiliated voters close gap with GOP

Unaffiliated voters have now closed more than half the gap that stood between Republicans and them at the beginning of the year.

The ranks of the unaffiliated are growing statewide. It’s reflective of an era in which people see it as “cool to be an independent,” said UNC Asheville political science professor Mark Gibney.

Democrats are adding the most voters of any of the three groups. There are more than 4,700 new Buncombe County Democrats this year and nearly 172,000 statewide.

But unaffiliated voters have grown at a faster clip this year: 10 percent in Buncombe County and 11 percent statewide to the Democrats’ 7 percent.

Someone tell me that can't happen. I need reassurance.

7. Bingo - Jindal's riding high right now with a lot of help from BushCo
They are trumpeting him as a "real" leader who saw LA. through Hurricane Gustav.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't dump Palin soon and put Jindal on the ticke. Of course, they will have to do it soon to minimize the Palin fall-out and keep the rest of her dirt from hitting the mainstream.

9. You mean Bobby Jindal the exorcist?
Bobby Jindal, the 36-year old governor of Louisiana, is being taken seriously by the national press as a candidate on the shortlist to be John McCain's Vice President. No one doubts that he's a political prodigy -- his impressive resume includes stints as president of the state university system, a Congressman and now governor.

But one of Jindal's job titles hasn't gotten much attention -- and it just might prompt a few questions if his Veep candidacy gains steam: Exorcist.

As others noted during his 2003 and 2007 gubernatorial campaigns (see update), in an essay Jindal wrote in 1994 for the New Oxford Review, a serious right-wing Catholic journal, Jindal narrated a bizarre story of a personal encounter with a demon, in which he participated in an exorcism with a group of college friends. And not only did they cast out the supernatural spirit that had possessed his friend, Jindal wrote that he believes that their ritual may well have cured her cancer. <snip>

If you're interested in the details about Jindal's spiritually experimental past, we have lots more for you after the jump. It's lively stuff.

10. And if anything happened to McCain, the U.S. would have its very own Exorcist-in-Chief!

6. I hope you all are right
I have a real ill feeling about this.

McCain has talked with Paul for "backing", whatever that means.

11. McCain looks even dumber if he replaces Palin.
If no major new scandal breaks, he's stuck with her - unless he can convince her to step down to "spend more time with her family."
