7. You gotta admit, it does throw a common right-wing meme back in their faces.
After all their wallowing in racism, classism, and sexism (i.e. blaming "immoral" women, trying to control their bodies) around this issue, I think the Repubs deserve to have some of their own rebuked for being such fucking hypocrites.

Frank Luntz: They just don't like her; AARP focus group

Another week, another Frank Luntz/AARP focus group of undecided voters--this one in Minneapolis and with some bad news for John McCain: they don't like the choice of Sarah Palin for vice president. Only one person said Palin made him more likely to vote for McCain; about half the 25-member group raised their hands when asked if Palin made them less likely to vote for McCain. They had a negative impression of Palin by a 2-1 margin...a fact that was reinforced when they were given hand-dials and asked to react to Palin's speech at her first appearance with McCain on Friday---the dials remained totally neutral as Palin went through her heart-warming(?) biography, and only blipped upwards when she said she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere--which wasn't quite the truth, as we now know.

Governor Pile-On and the reproductive foibles of her ever burgeoning family will put McCain in solid with the Fundies. People focusing on the obvious disconnect between the Pile-On family uterine drama and the Republican Party's religious social-conservative famly val-yews are missing the point. The discrepancy between the Pile-On family's bedtime behavior with Fundy Doctrine vanishes instantly in the shadow of the absolute consistency of the Pile-On family soap opera with the typical experiences of Fundamentalist families. Nothing could furnish her with better credentials or connect her more intimately with the Republican base of rural white religious idiots than her embarrassing failure to exercise Godly control over her womb or her daughters' wombs: that's the same drama they live out every day. Fundamentalist _______-ian, -ish, -ic dogma demands denial of female pleasure, places female fertility at the service and discretion of male fertility, and places the sternest injunctions on reproductive transgressions--and, in this country at least, it ALWAYS FAILS.

Fundies will see themselves in Governor Pile-On's story of failure and they'll hug her to their bosom. They will approve when she continues to self-righteously demand of others a standard of sexual conduct that her own family has failed to live up to (which is what people round here would call "hypocrisy", but for Fundies will be repeated as proof that " at least she's still a Christian!") It will not disturb them a bit when someone remarks that the Pile-On family doesn't know how many mouths will show up at the dinner table on a given day, just as Country Club Republicans inwardly smile when McCain says someone on his staff will have to look up the answer to the question of how many homes he has.

9. Let's not stoop to the level of the freepers
We should be above calling the Palin kids names, but that doesn't mean we can't call Caribou Barbie out on her hypocrisy. We don't need to hit below the belt the way the repukes do; we can fight clean and still win on the issues of character (we have character--they ARE characters), corruption to the core, and abuse of power, not to mention hypocrisy.

There is too much political dirt on the mom for us to have fun with  to resort to dragging an unwed teen daughter in the mix, except to point out the double standard of "poor inner-city girl gets pregnant-bad, rich Republican girl gets pregnant-OK."
